Tau had no garrisons

Orks garrisoned Zzap gunzmob on the western Take and hold, and the Soopa gunzmob on the blitz, both on overwatch

Turn 1

No Teleports

Strategy Roll - Tau

Once again as battle is joined the Hero appears over the battlefield. Seeing the Supa Stompa it releases both salvo's. Both missiles hit for full effect and the war engine is reduced to a pile of metal, steam and grots. The remaining stompa's are broken but stay put.

The flight of 4 Fightabomma's are put on CAP.

AMHC-2 are order to advance to take the Zzap gunzmob under fire. With just the oddboy in range the gunzmob takes it overwatch shot, downing one Hammerhead. Only 4 tanks are left to shoot and they all miss.

The 5 Fightabommba's are then ordered to ground attack. they head down the eastern edge to attack AMHC-3. The attached skyray is unable to hit any of the planes. One Hammerhead is destroyed.

The Barracuda's are then ordered to intercept the 5 fightabomma's. They fail to activate and stand down.

The Landa is now ordered to Air Assault AMHC-2. The skyray hits the landa, causing one point of damage that doesn't go critical. The AMHC cause 2 hits, which kill gretchin. The orks only manage one hit in return, which is saved! The orks go into resolution at +2 (Double outnumber) and win by 3. The broken 3 Hammerheads break forward to hid behind some buildings. The orks consolidate into the nearby buildings, but not all make it.

Recon Black now calls a co-ordinated fire with the scorpionfish. They double over to bring the boyz mob into range of all their guns. In a hail of fire not hits are scored!

The scorpionfish now sustains fire, using its sub munitions missiles to target the boyz. 4 units are hit killing 3 boyz and a Nob. The formation is broken and the orks retreat to the western Tau take and hold.

The Zzap BB now doubles forward. One oddboy hits AMHC-1 killing one Hammerhead.

AMHC-1 are order to double but need the assurance of the Shas'O that its for the best (SC Re-roll). They target the landa, which is destroyed as it breaks in range of Recon Black.

The Soopa BB now double forward and shoot at the crisis suits. No hits are scored.

The AX-1-0 is ordered to ground attack, but seeing that the barracudas didn't fly they decided to stand down as well!

The KOS double forward and shot at the broken AMHC-2. Only one is killed for the blast marker.

Recon brown double forward towards the KOS. One tetra crashes into a tree as they leave the forest. They shoot at the KOS but no hits are scored.

The crisis suits advance to shoot at the KOS. 4 warbikes are destroyed and the battlesuits use their jetpacks to move away from the recon group. (They would have been intermingled without this move).

AMHC-3 are ordered to advance but the order is misplaced (4 failures this turn!). They fire anyway using guided missiles to hit the Soopa BB. 2 hits kill 2 flakwagonz.

End Of Turn

5 Fightabomma's fly off the south edge with 2 BM.
4 Fightabomma's remain on CAP.

Turn 2

No Teleports

Strategy Roll - Orks

The Soopa BB are ordered to sustain at Recon Brown. 5 hits wipe out the light vehicles.

The Kult of Speed is then ordered to engage. Despite some very loud shouts from the warlord they elect to shoot at the nearby AMHC-2 with a crossfire (failed SC re-roll). 2 hits destroy one hammerhead and the remaining tank breaks forward into enemy territory.

AMHC-3 is ordered to double forward towards both Blitz Brigades. They pop-up and shoot at the Zzap BB. 2 hist destroy 2 flakwagonz.

The scorpion is ordered to retain and complies once the Shas'O explains why (SC re-roll). It launches a MW missile salvo at the Zzap BB. 3 hits remove both oddboyz and a gunwagon and the 3 remaining vehicles break back towards the eastern ork objective.

The Stompa's double forward and shoot at AMHC-2 removing the lone broken tank.

Crisis suits advance into fusion blaster range of the KOS and let fly. 5 hits only kill 3 buggies and the KOS remains unbroken. The Crisis used jetpack to move back a bit.

The boyz double forward towards the tau blitz and shoot at AMHC-1. One hit kills a Hammerhead.

Recon black advance to light up the boyz and block their line of advance. There shooting is inaccurate and no hits are scored.


5 Fighterbomma's are ordered to ground attack. They approach to attack AMHC-1. The scorpion lets fly with its hunter missiles and brings one ork plane to the ground. In the confusion only one missile hits the tanks and the damage is saved. However the AMHC breaks and heads for the cover of the central woods.

The Barracudas now join the battle and attack the KOS. 2 hits kill a buggy and a scorcha and the KOS breaks back down the road were it came from.

Zzap Gunz double forward. They unleash a hail of fire at one tetra of recon black. One hit is enough to kill it.

The AX-1-0 now enter the field of battle. They place themselves in range of the Soopa BB, but well covered by hunter missiles. The 4 capping fighters are not deterred and approach the tigersharks. In a mass of flak fire only one missile hits, but can't bring down the plane. The fighters open up and hit once, enough to bring one bomber down. The lone bomber now shoots the Soopa BB, killing 2 tanks and breaking them. They retreat behind the western wood in the centre of the battlefield.

The Soopa Gunz double out of cover eager to enter the battle and shoot at AMHC-3. One tank is destroyed by the MW fire. This breaks the tanks and the move towards the ork half.

Strategy Roll - Orks

In a moment of deja-vu the KOS is ordered to engage, checks with the warlord that he did mean this turn and finally charge forward to hit the suits in FF. Even with reduced numbers the scorcha's cause 6 hits. Fearing the worst the saves for the crisis are rolled, and all pass! No kills! The suits hit twice killing one scorcha. The tau go into the roll off at +2, but it ends in a draw and another round of combat ensues. The orks hit 3 times and finally kill one crisis suit. They hit and kill 2 more scorcha's in return. With this roll off at +3 to the Tau the combat is resolved as the Tau win by 5 and wipe out the KOS. The Crisis suits consolidate away from the boyz.

The Soopa Gunz are ordered to double back towards the ork blitz. One hammerhead is destroyed, re-breaking the formation. It heads further into ork territory on the eastern edge.

The scorpion sustain fires at the boyz using sub munition missiles. 4 hits kill 1 boyz and 2 nobs. The remaining troops break back into the building near the western tau objective.

Zzap Gunz sustain at the crisis suits but fail to hit.

The AX-1-0 then swoops in to attack the stompa mob, but can only place a blast marker.

The Zzap BB double towards AMHC-3. The only hit is saved, but another tank is removed.

Crisis suits advance towards the Tau eastern objective and the broken Soopa BB. Only one suit unit can fire but it hits with all 3 weapons and the orks are wiped out.

5 Fightabomma's are supposed to ground attack but stand down.

The barracuda's appear and target the stompa mob. No hits are scored but the mob is broken.

4 Fightabomma's approach AMHC-1. The skyray is blown apart and two more hammerheads are wrecked by BM's.

Recon brown are order to advance. They fail and just move. This was a big mistake. I still had my SC re-roll at this point. Had I used it and the advance order gone through, I may have been able to wipe out the boyz mob and claim a 2-0 victory. Big, Big mistake!

Strategy Roll - Orks (3 in a row, the final nail in the Tau coffin!)

4 Fightabomma's swoop in to attack recon black. The scorpion's flak is wild causing no hits. 4 skimmers are hit, killing all 4. The lone piranha retreats to the tau blitz.

The lone AX-1-0 no enters play and targets the stompa's. One is TK'd away breaking the formation again. The reaming 2 retreat back towards the orc centre.

5 Fightbomma's now try to finish off AMHC-1. 2 hits kill one Hammerhead but leaves one broken tank hiding.

The barracudas fly in to hit the stompa's again. One hit can't damage the walker but it dies from the BM.

Zzap gunz double forward and the oddboy shoots at the Shas'O, killing him and breaking the suits. They retreat into the woods.

The scorpion doubles forward and shoots at the remaining stompa. No hits are scored but the last walker dies from the BM.

Boyz double forward to claim the blitz and destroy the remaining piranha as a by product.

Zzap BB doubles and shoots at AMHC-3. No hits are scored but on Hammerhead falls to BM's.

The Soopa gunz go on overwatch for something to do!

I played a real life game on Monday and would have won in 4 turns against a war engine heavy Chaos list (3 feral, pair of death wheels and a decimator!) but we didn't play to a conclusion as for turn 4 he had one wheel, A retinue with 2 oblits and a retinue with 3 marines left! The AX-1-0 rocked!

To be honest its early days for me in list design. Should have another game tonight that I will take notes/photo's of.

Very interesting and exciting game to read.

I also took note of this trick:

As far as any trends goes, I think it's pretty early in the game to start making definitive statements. As stated in the "Going forward" thread, these first few weeks, we should be playing games just to see how things work and work together.

There is plenty of time to do heavy analysis coming up...
