Dafrca and gang,
Quote (MaksimSmelchak @ 20 2003 June,15:14) By the way, that reminds me that I need to get my Bomma photos on the hard drive so I can share them with all of you!
Yes, you do need to get those up... Dafrca |
OK. All of the phots are now sent with the title "Epic photos *.....* from Maksim." I sent them in thematic batches with one to six photos each.
There is a total of eleven E-mails with photos that I sent.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Well, I have been away on holiday for a week and then had an interview for a new job - so I have been busy.

Great!
Now, Jervis will know where all of the miscreants are coming from!
I guess I should give up ever having a chance to meet Jervis on an even footing.
Seriously, no big deal, Dafrca. I said the words; I should be able to own up to them.
Best regards, Maksim-Smelchak.

I sent the ideas and let him decide what to use.
By the way, new errata will be posted today and here is just one part (note the new formation):
7.2.3 GHAZGKHULL MAG URUK THRAKA?S ORK WAR HORDE ARMY LIST
Change the rules for Big Warbands & ?Uge Warbands to the following:
?Big Formations and ?Uge Formations: An Ork player can choose to double or triple the number of core units in an Ork formation. A formation with double the number of core units is called a Big formation and costs double the number of points. A formation with three times as many core units is called a ?Uge formation and costs three times the normal number of points. All Ork formations may be increased in size in this manner apart from Ork spacecraft formations. Very Important: At least half of the formations in an Ork army (rounding up) must be ?big? formations. The remaining formations may be of any size.?
Change the ?extras? for the Fighta-Bomma sqwadron to ?none?.
Add the following formation to the Ork army list: Type; Core Units; Cost; Extras Stormboyz Warhorde; Ten Stormboyz units; 200 points; Any number of the following for +25 points each: Stormboyz; Kommandoes; Wartrukks; Buggies; Warbikes; Skorchas Any number of the following for +35 points each: Deth Koptas
Assault Boat; One Assault Boat; 200 points; None

There is more but I thought you would like the new Ork formation :-)

That's great, anything you think is worthwhile - send it to Jervis!!! ?
We have a lot of veteran & knowlegdeable players here with some good ideas. ?
Assault Boats? -
- more new models?! ?
And I would not be surprised if F/W makes Epic Ork Bommas in the image of their 40K version in '04...

Thanks for the information.
I hope you don't expect me to stop complaining... ?

P.S. See if you can persuade / encourage Jervis to make AA turrets an option for Gargant bastions since it appears that you have his ear. I've been advocating that one for some time. (A double or quadruple mounting would be worth the three Big Gunz)

Just to be clear (I saw my post wasn't as clear as I should have been)...
The Errata #4 was posted to the playtest site and the file will be up on the vault later today. There is a lot of new stuff. And best of all it looks like all three of the "core" armies got new stuff.

I would be glad to pass on the idea. It is not that I have his ear so much as I am just loud.
You know, I voice my opinion if it is wanted or not :-)

Maksim: I moved this over here to avoid thread crossover.
Let me try a different direction.
What strategic choices do you want available to Orks?
In what way the changes you want to the Ork army list provide those?

Neil,
Basically, it revolves around the advantage that Orks can get by taking hordes of small formations. All the extra activations gives them a lot of tactical flexibility and individual detachments are so small they are disposable.
I was initially resistant to the idea and thought that the battle reports sounded as if the Ork opponents were just making mistakes. However, when every single playtest comes up with the same results, it's hard to believe that's coincidence.
I think the strategic flexibility must be a very strong point for the orks, but there seems to be something terribly un-Orky about it. |
I guess the attack of the pipsqueak units has been controlled by JJ's new rules that at least half of the Ork formations must be double-sized.
The whole 'Big' and 'Uge' sounds an awful lot like the supersizing that fast food restaurants offer!
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

I'm getting ready to head out the door so I'll think about this while on errands and get back to you. I should to respond to the "Arty" topic ASAP as well.

Neil,
What strategic choices would you want to be available to Orks? |
Actually, I'm pretty happy with the ammended by errata list.
I still have my reservations about a few of the Ork stats, but I'm pretty happy with things how they are.
Battlefortresses still need variable loads though.
Supagunz should have a mobile version or Battlefortresses with the option to carry them.
The SupaStompa seems a tad expensive for its' capabilty.
What do you think?
In what ways would the changes you desire for the Orks be provided to the army list? |
At this point, cost adjustment and the addition of a few units would wrap things up.
That is until the Feral Orks list comes out...
Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
