Hi!
Markconz points out a vital aspect of epic gaming - those who you play with. At this level we are at we are extremely selective who we play with. We play with people whom share the similar gaming ethos, in other words stimulate us as well as entertain us.
I have on occasion, NOT played a game, becuase I did not like the attitude of the person I was supposed to game with. I WILL ALWAYS play a game, ANY GAME, with a good gaming partner.
I'd play any game, any version of epic with everyone on this list, becuase I trust your way of gaming and the attitudes displayed on the forums.
Time is precious, to be used with a good game, but more importantly a good PERSON to game with.

Totally agree.
Gaming for me is about fun.
I choose models because I like them or because I perceive them to be fun to game with.
I won't even try and build the perfect army because it isn't fun.
As mentioned in a previous thread I did try once doing this in Car Wars and the result was a very quick and boring game. Whereas when we played games with fun cheap cars and bikes we had more fun.
In my previous gaming days when I played Warhammer FB a lot (we are talking 1st and 2nd edition here) some of the people I played games with were obssessed with power-armies and super strength characters (read Chaos Warriors); whereas I was more interested in fun models with characters. My armies had snotlings, Pygmies and other weird fun stuff.
These days my games are still for fun.
I think you can tell a lot about a gamer by the armies they play.

Hi!
I have as a normal custom to peruse the "gaming scene" of the local neighbor I wish to play in. As Jimbo points out you can learn a lot about the people by watching how they play the game. This simple exercise has saved me countless headaches.

Hi Jimbo,
Jimbo: My armies had snotlings, Pygmies and other weird fun stuff. |
I love Pygmies and Snotlings...
If I ever did 28mm as a scale, I'd want pygmies and Snotlings/Grotz/Little Green Snotz!
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

I have moved to Giant monster combat in Lego cities and Dino Hunting across the lounge room to spend time with the kids. Its not Epic (and I'll play that at the drop of a hat whenever I can!) but its great fun and the look on their faces is absolutley priceless.
And of course, I am mentoring my future ,readily available epic opponents for the future!

I really enjoy organizing my (9!) Epic Armies on the SM1 style Templates (TO&Es). And I too like use different models, units and organizations. I don't try build a perfect force but I'll vary the mix of Infantry, Armor, FA, etc. And all Armies "fight"/play different.

To be honest, I like to win. I enjoy when a plan comes together and it works out. But having said that, I dislike when I win because I found some loop hole or twisted some rule just to win. It is empty and boring.
I have had my ars handed to me and had a lot of fun in the process. The truth is, dispite the fact I like to win, I LOVE to have a fun and exciting game. I love when my opponent does something I did not expect and it challenges me. I love when we forget who's turn it is because we have been talking so much and just being friends. I love when we just call a game because something went wrong in one of our army lists and the game is going one sided. I love when what we have for dinner is more important then some rule issue.
Bottom line for me, I love having fun more then I like to win.

Agreed ! However, as I have relearned over the past year, life is not only hard but unfair ! If the lot of us were in the same AO, well to paraphrase Wellington at Waterloo, IRRC, "I don't know how the enemy feels about them, but they scare the hell out of me !"

You guys are the best! (sniff, sniff, holding back a tear ) Tis a pity that we are all separated by so many miles. Time to work on transporter technology!
