You've met someone incredibly helpful, positive and constructive.....not. I mean come on, those comments are disparaging whilst retaining a degree of ambiguity.

Don't give up Maksim, I don't think you're messing. I think - to paraphrase her - ?she's not there - quite.

Ok, not very helpful so far - can you contest her judgement?

Or at least discuss it a more depth than those noncommittal demotivating remarks? Or are there other observers than her?

Cheers Maksim. As that French general said in WWI "The Germans are attacking, artillery is enveloping our front, our supplies and munitions are low, and we have no reserve - what can we do? We are charging!" (ok, very loose quotation, anyone having the original pass it on). And I don't think it's come to that for you as yet! :D

I wonder why it is that she is offering no support, I find it more usual to help people settle in rather than deliberatly make it difficult to do so, does she have a friend who she feels should have got the job for example. Still, weather the storm and hopefully things will right themselves in the end, good luck.

Maksim, best of luck!
Some people can just be jerks! ?

And "V", Petain or Foch said that, in WWI. I don't remember it all but you came close! :;):

I wonder whether she is, for some reason, trying to "put you into your place"?  That sounds awfully lot like the methods used by some old-school army instructors.    I'm willing to bet she is the kind of person who thinks she is always right.

Did she offer ANY clarifications or explanations at all for those little comments? If not, I think that says it all...

And the one saying that little quote was Ferdinand Foch.

I think you're right, L4 and Mojarn - wish I could find it again.

How's it going Maksim?

Hi Guys,

I'm feeling better today because we have a holiday but I've been stressed almost beyond limits the last few days. I'm really stressed and worried about my job. I have to last until 18 February 2005 to keep my job for next year.

I got another negative feedback later in the week and all the negative language is chewing me up.

Waking up and sleeping in for a bit was badly needed this morning. I didn't even check my E-mail yesterday. When Diana called, I was pretty sour as well. I told her that it was a bad time for me and I needed some space.

I need to finish with Dalton though. I've been spending all my time with beauacratic hoo-haa.

Here and L-4 worries that his life is a soap opera! :(

He and I come from similar molds... military men not used to failure. Sometimes I really despise the civilian world with its' lack of defined command relationships and vicious hidden politics. I fear that while I can be a good and decent person and very hard-working, I might never master the politics well enough to preserve myself.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Ha - politics! Maybe that's why I changed jobs 4 times in 14 years.

Maksim, if you stick true to yourself and all you believe in, there are to outcomes - you do well, or you end up leaving, because the situation becomes unsustainable.

I've never been in the military, but I too like my lines of command and comms to be clear and explicit, and to pursue clear aims and objectives. If others cannot set them for you, you have to do it yourself. It may work, it may end up with your moving on. I've been through 'moving on' a number of times now. This time round I'm hanging in and trying to make my own rules; a few like-minded types around help! I wonder how long it'll last.

But enough about me. Maksim, don't change - its not worth it. I know this job is important for you - I'm not saying that you should avoid compromise - just avoid compromising your truths.

If you're ?a good sort (and at least we lot here at Epicomms know you are) you'll make it, unless the place is too rotten, too far gone, and could never function any way.

Poor kids, though. They don't deserve a dysfunctional place. Not being there (or being a teacher, but just a lecturer, which is far less) just does not give me the right to blab about, of course; I just hope anything I ranted about could be of help.

We're behind you mate.

Maksim,

I have been in alot of difficult political situations, where power struggles combined with normal levels of insanity (females put into possisions of authority have to understand thier own cycles or everyone else suffers).

First, do not allow yourself to be put off because of seamingly random levels of critisism.   Many leaders (those without formal training) believe they are being truly helpful by being critical.

Time passes and you will soon find, they will find others to be helpful to.

Listen to the childrens parents, and to the other teachers, a little back history from the other teachers will give you a handle on how to deal with the person in question.

Also, do not allow a bad person in one place of work sour you to the profession, I have jumped from job to job until I found a place where I feel I belong.  I have been at my current job for six years and I am very happy.  It takes time, and alot of work to get your workplace to be fulfilling (sounds alot like all relationships).

I know stress has a way of making the whole world seem hostile.  Don't worry, friends, family and better halves have a way of relieving stress.

The best advice I can give you is, it is only a job.  It is not your first job, it will not be your last job.  Look for the lessons you need to learn from the current situation and be happy for the little things.

best regards

Dalton

Well Maksim, if my life is soap opera... I want new writers! ?

My frustration since a became a civilian many years ago has only gotten worse as my ability to deal with stress has decreased with age. I didn't defend this country for some of the human (?) garbage I've had to suffer since I came back home. If I could I would "waste" these pieces of trash with "extreme prejudice." And I'm not just saying that to sound "cool!"

My current medical condition may be influenced by stress. Don't let this happen! Don't take things too seriously! ?
Find ways to relieve stress (work out). It's only a problem or event when you say it is. Otherwise it "don't mean nothin'!" Believe me I have fought this too often recently.

Literally planning in my mind how to "wack" someone... who more than deserves it. But we got to be bigger than that ! We are good men and are adults.

Hang tough... and remember the "mission!"

Hi Maksim,

How old is Quinn? ?

If he is anything like my daughter Sierra, alot of games seem like a Japanese monster movie (attack of the 5000 ft two year old...)

:p

Best regards,
Dalton.

Hi Dalton,

Quinn is six if I remember correctly. He was mostly interested in playing the PS-1 my sister bought me for the holidays, rollerblading outside, trying to find every cookie in my home and the like... :D

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Guys,

I just finished making some really good lesson plans for this week.

It's about 8:40pm here and I'm going to watch "The Battle of Britain" DVD before I go to bed. I bought it today at Target; it's the coloor and sound remastered version. I'm really looking forward to it since i loved the movie as a child. I can never forget the German gunner who gets plastered in a bomber gun turret. Right through the eye!

I also just PAYPAL'ed Bruce Hirst for Dalton. I'm ordering some Hirst Arts moulds for Dalton as apart of the MEGA-trade payment.

I'm hoping to double-check my finances and PAYPAL Dafrca tomorrow from an old trade. I also have a CI to mail him!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Maksim,

I look forward to both. Thanks.

As for life, I am so far behind all of my stuff, I just know I am going to get into trouble at some point.

Hang in there!
