Hi guys,

I was doing some research into background fluff for a campaign I am slowly putting together and was wondering...what happened when nasty old Ghazghkull came back for another taste of the Emperor's fortitude?

There was a big who-ha about the "online world campaign", which was a great concept, and the website is still there with some nice flash animation and stuff, but it just.. kind of ..stops...

If the GW Boyz went to so much trouble for the 1st and 2nd battles, why hasnt this been cleaned up at all? Has it all simply been dropped as too hard for the new Eye Of Terror Campaign?

Confused... :l

Tas,

I'm not sure what you are asking. Would you please rephrase your question?

An easy answer might be to buy the Armageddon Codex. I really like mine and it's chock full of good information.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Sorry if I wasnt being clear!
I've got the Codex and yes it full of lots of Armageddon goodness...to either refight the 2nd or start the 3rd War, both against the Orks.

However, the 3rd War was played out as a world wide game with countries around the world allocated hoves and areas and the results from those countries determined how the war progressed.

There is still a lot of stuff online at
http://www.armageddon3.com

But it just kind of...stops with no final result.  In a very unGW style, they have failed to provide the fluff and stuff to finish it all off.

Or maybe they did and I missed it?  Thus my starting this thread to find if I am just uniformed ???

The map you see in the site gives the results: a stalemate. Ghazzy Osborne  :p  was prevented from taking over Armageddon and his fleet was defeated, but the ground war went WWI, IIRC. There was much talk about rigged results, but we all know GW would NEVER do something like that...

So the answers are

Yes, it was rigged; and
Yes, it was all too hard/too much and just got canned after the event

What a very dissappointing end to such a promising campaign

yep it was a draw.....

There was much to be said about whether it was rigged or not, but I really thought old Ghazghkull would do it this time.  I hope the next eye of terror works out better. It certainly looks like a good campaign to get stuck into. The next WD should have a battle report from the eye of terror campaign, which should be interesting. At least thats what I read in the U.K. WD not sure how it works in the U.S. version.

Cant wait....

With Armageddon, what happen was that Ghazghkull was defeted on the ground, but the planet remained a war zone, many other Ork mobs were still fighting. Ghazghkull himself jumped a ship and headed to the stars with a load of his ork buddies. Commissar Yarrick went in persuit with a crusade of Black Templars, wanting to see that someday Ghazghkull would be defeted for good.

As for the Eye of Terror, GW has said that there WILL be an outcome, not a draw. Chaos or Imperials will have some kind of victory. It will shape the 40K world for when 40k v.4 comes out at the end of 2004.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Chris

I hope the Imperium FINALLY kicks some ass. lately the only thing they've managed to do is to sit tight and wait for the next invasion by Ghazzy Osborne/Abbadon/Tau/Necron/Tyranids/. Of course, since the Chaos Codex was published later than the Imperial ones and, thus, has greater cheese factor the odds of that happening are slim. :{

If the Imperium has a super massive excelent victory, the released fluff says that it will be a golden age for the imperium, exploritory teams into the exe of terror and all that.

If Chaos win a super massive excelent victory, then Cadia would have fallen and abbadon will set his sights on Terra (Earth). It will be a dark age for the imperium. }:)

I hope the imperials win. And we see some new Tau stuff. I think they need a Titan Walker and a Superheavy tank - with a super killer hurty Railgun on top. Nice.

Cheers

Chris

There was a rumour a while ago that the Tau would not get walker titans, but instead heavy fliers/floating gunships.  :blues:

Yeah, good point- in the Tau codex it mentions the Mantas and similar things being their titan analouges... The FW Manta model is very nice, so I don't mind too much if there never is a "proper" titan.... :D

My Dark Angels and there fallen brethren shall be fighting naturally, and being a true Dark Angel, I shall be commanding both in battle again a variety of foes ;).

I am still not sure which side I want to win...

I don't like Chaos one bit, but am not much fonder of the Imperials with their star vampire emperor.

However, the side I really want to lose is....

the GW one.

Their cruddy business and retailing decisions don't enamour me of them. I wish they'd charge prices a little more consistent with what other miniatures manufacturers use. Then I'll root for them!  :D

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
