I havent actually got any of the models since the release of EA.
You guys are making me think twice about ordering, especially with the extra postage - is it really that bad? And if so, why havent we all been screaming at GW Customer Service?

Quote (dafrca @ 19 2004 Oct.,04:47) | Thanks, maybe I will have better luck on the next buy. ?
I will say, I agree the storm troopers left a lot to be desired. I think my Siege Troops will have to just use some proxies and some of the old school minis.
dafrca | Its true sadly. I was really excited about the ST's, especially after seeing the close up pics on tuffskulls site.
I was disapointed when they arrived. I'd say out of the blisters I got, about 1/3rd were up to standard, 1/3rd were just OK after work with a knife and a file on their right legs, and the last 1/3rd were fit only for being melted down.
Hopefully FW will release some decent Storm Troopers to go with their Grey Knights stuff, as is rumoured

The only things I'd say you should avoid are the Leman Russ Company set, the Chimera blister and the Stormtrooper blister.

Hi!
The funny thing is that the actual winner in recent epic releases is FW. Good models at a good price.
I never thought I'd say that about FW prices, but it seems to be getter truer and truer....

Rob | My Stormtroopers look like they were done by amatures, both Chimera Bliasters look like you would think recast knock-offs would look like. The Landraider had excess metal that obscured details. The Land Speeders looked good except for the mold lines. Vultures had some warp that might have been post mold damage. The Rhinos were Ok, except one was a miscast. The Marine Lander was nice, a pain to put together, but nice. The Leman Russ Company was "OK" but nothing to write home about.
Look, the bottom line is GW has gone with poorer QC and clearly went with the lower budget on this round.

I'm not sure what the problem with the ST's is, as the resin masters looked really nice.
I thought it could be that the detail doesn't come out so well on such small figs using metal, but then I got the baran troopers and they look very nice, so it can't be that. ?Must be a specific mold problem.
The Marine Lander was nice, a pain to put together, but nice. |
A pain to put together, are you sure? ?The marine lander is designed to be easy to fit together, whoever designed it is quite clearly a genius. ?The two I have both went together very easily. ?

Yeah, QC should definetly be improved, mainly on the older redone stuff. ?
The budget can't be helped though, Jervis made it quite clear that they are operating on a very small budget as it is all the finance people will let them have, and can only do a limited number of things.
At least they got good sculptors to do the new stuff.
