Hi!
Warmaster Nice has the right idea. When a GW game is released, not matter what it is there is a sales spike. Its a common phenomenon if you ever retailed their products.
The true measure will be, as warmaster points out, how well epic will do when "other" things vie for the customers attention.
Once February 2005 comes around, one year after its UK release, if its still sells this good then, and only then, will we know if epic lasts beyond the "flavor of the month" period. Keep in mind that epic 40k sold WAY more than epic A in its first months (it was a core game back then), then faded away.
I am glad however that fanatic is being prudent and making small print runs to ensue it sells out. I hope they keep steady in that regard.

Ahem
The miniatures have sold well in Europe. What I was told - and bear in mind this is anecdotal information, as I haven't seen any sales figures yet - is that sales of the miniatures were 400% up on forecast. Which is nice

And still GWUS refuses to do any promotion...
It's not as if a write-up in WD would really cost them a ton of money.
Per Utopia, they didn't even get the date into the ad for his tournament (the first EA event in NA).

Hi!
I read a comment that GWUS was perhaps waiting to see how well it sells elsewhere (UK and CANADA) before they take the plunge.
I dont know if this is the case, but man is GWUS beating around the bush with epic.
It really ticks me off....

Hello all,
Looking at the E:A rules in more detail I have noted that a lunar class cruiser costs 50 points less than a shadowsword. The shadwosword is a somewhat specialized AT weapon (yeah, I am that smart) and is specialized in dealing with enemy heavies as a consequence. It has the drawback that it can be shot back ad has a limited range, while the lunar cannot be shot back and has unlimited range. This got me wondering if this, coupled with the ability of the lunar to place a large barrage (even if only 3BP strong) in a point of the table, would mean that a lunar is better on the battlefield that a SINGLE shadowsword. It costs less points, so I was wondering if I am correct. At least this seems so to me
Seeing this, it would seem that if you were planning on using a single titan killer the shadowsword is less efficient than the lunar cruiser. I suppose other armies get similar combinations. Am I right here? Is the lunar a better titan killer than a single shadwosword for less points?
Health and sixes,
Xavi

Spacecaft can be pretty tricky. First of all you have to declare whch turn it shows up on the table. If you're unlucky it will not show up until the very end of the battle when it is too late to make a difference. The advantage of the shadowsword is, that theoretically it is capable of shooting every turn. that said the large barrage template and usually pretty high firepower of orbital bombardments makes then very usefull in many situations.
Cheers!

I rarely use space craft, and I am certainly no expert, but that has never stopped me having an opinion in the past! Personally, I would take the ShadowSword. The Lunar gets to fire only once during the game, and can be seen off by other space craft. Also, you have a limited control of exactly where it appears. If it gets there too late, you may find your own troops caught in the blast as well!

The Shadowsword has the option to overwatch, and usually gets to fire twice (or 3 times, if the enemy doesn't blow it up). The Lunar gets to fire once, and gets a MW barrage attack once as well, but can never cede victory points.
I'd get the Lunar over the Shadowsword for the same reason you'd pick a Marauder squadron over an artillery battery: it can't get picked off before it has a chance to fire. (I know that playing the Guard forces you to think defensively like this, because it's rare that I get to go first, especially vs teleporting terminators and thunderhawking assault troops, who usually inflict a heavy tolll)
