Hi!

I always thought that was one of the coolest rules in AT/SM1, permiting mounted infantry to dismount. We had a lot of fun with that rule! :)

I want to convert some Chaos lizards into IG proxy cavalry in the future. The 28mm 40k IG Codex has illustrations of IG lizard riders.

I loved the guy who cut apart RRs on Tuffskull's site and made them into lizard riders.

Personally I used to just substitute them with infantry stats with standard stats for infantry.

I'd have to look up the rule to be exact, but if I recall we replaced the Cav stands with Infantry stands when they dismounted.

I kinda like the idea of just letting them act as infantry when in cover - like they have just hopped off their mounts for a bit.  Did that in E40k quite often, but it really should have cost extra points.

Now I've been playing Epic Armageddon ever since the game was released some year and a half ago... and it suddenly occurred to me last night that I might have misunderstood some concepts completely altogether!

Weapons stats

First of all when reading the tyranid army list and discussing some weapons stats on the old SG forum one thing became clear as mud... I've tried to explain my confusion in these examples using some weapons I just made up:

4 x Total Plock Gun  R:234cm AP 2+

Now this weapon would only fire a single AP2+ right?
The "4 x" is merely describing the amount of weaponry... and the AP2+ is the sum of all those weapons?

Had it been:

4 x Total Plock Gun  R:234cm 4x AP 2+

Then it would have fired 4 shots right?

So the land raider only gets a single 4+ shot?

Space Craft:

Now I've never actually used these.. :blush:

But here goes: I don't think the rules clearly states wether a space craft is one use only or if you can use it any turn as long as the opponent isn't using a space craft that turn?!
If I had a kill kroozer in my orks army - could I plan a orbital bombardament at turns 1,2 & 3?!

Army Selection

Been looking through the book trying to find the paragraph stating the rules for the 33% limits in aircraft and war-engine selection?!?! Couldn't find it though! Anybody knows?

Anyway - my question was: Is there a 33% for BOTH of the types or for the types combined?

In other words can your army be combined of 33% WE, 33% Aircraft and 33% troops!?

Nope- the Land Raider gets 2 AT shots (2*twin-linked lascanon) & 1 AP shot (heavy bolter).

The 33% limit is WE & Engine COMBINED. Thus in 2,700 points game if you take 850 points Warlord Titan than you can have zero aircover.

It forces you to make hard choices in army selection.

I mixed up CC and long range weapons... so nevermind that part.

As to the 33% limit:
Phew - that makes more sense... AB got me puzzled!
I still wonder where in the book the limit is mentioned?

Locations are......

Page 138, under Cost, last sentence
"Up to one third of the points available to the Ork army can be spent on aircraft and Gargants."

Page 134, Last paragraph
"Imperial Navy aircraft, and Titan Legion battle groups may support Steel Legion Imperial Guard Armies. A maximum of up to one third of the points available to the army may be spent on these formations."

Page 130, Last paragraph
"Codex Astartes Space Marine armies may be supported by Imperial Navy aircraft, and Titan Legion battle groups. A maximum of up to one third of the points available to the army may be spent on these formations."

Under further Army lists outside the rule book they are there except for the OGBM and AMTL lists, for obvious reasons.

Thanks for helping out - I know I'm too lazy but I knew somebody would just know it!  :D

AS for the OGBM that raises a new question which I had completely forgotten wondering about:

Could a OGBM consist of 1 gargant and fliers for rest of the points?
