Hmm... not so cool... are they of a similar style, or of a few different styles with enough of each style to make it look decent?

Hergemir,

I don't beleive that there are any repeats on the sprues.

But, you can just buy a few sprues and have the numbers you want.

Many of the minis are also available in metal. I have quite a few and like them all.

I also think that Jimbo has correctly identified them.

Cheers and Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

There were (are?) 12 figures on each Silent Death sprue.
They came in a box set of 48- i.e. 4 sprues i.e. 4 of each ship.
Silent Death was produced by ICE that went into receivership a couple of years back and supposedly came out of receivership a few months back.

I say supposedly because they don't appear to have produced any new figures and the old figures can be quite hard to get hold of- they crop up occasionally on ebay.com, and are even rarer on uk ebay.

Am I being confused with the famed Jimbo??

I might need to change my sig!!

Cheers

I have suddenly been looking at the Tau in Epic recently, although I have not played a game with them. My biggest problem with the force list right now is the limit that it places on Fire Warriors. The main force in the Tau army, and about the only thing that you cant increase in a Cadre. The list looks extremely short ranged, with only a couple of the specialist vehicles with a range of more than 30cm. For a firefight force, this could be a problem.

I think that this has to do with play balance more than anything else.  Currently with their ability to avoid CC (the evade thingy) the only effective way to engage them is long range fire. If you gave them longer ranged weapons, they would be very very hard to beat, in my opinion.

So what I am hearing is the Tau will not be my next Epic army. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

The Tau are my favorite new Epic army, the rules may just need more "fine tuning" ... :;):

the Tau rules are just sketches at the time. A more extensive playtesting period is planned for about November.

The current army is to be played with a very strong firepower at very short range and a weakness in assault. This weakness is compensated by various specialty (ability to withdraw from CC most notably). The playtest was suspended just after the release of the V3 list, and this is very imperfect, and for what i've heard, quite inbalenced : the TAU win big time. Their weakness in assault is about impossible to exploit (the TAU have a rule that allow them to shoot at the incoming bugger); and they seem to invariably mow down about everything.

Formation composition is also quite imperfect; But be assured that the list will see more work before the release (before the end of the year), and that those problems are "well known", at least from those who care for the TAU list on the playtest forum.
I'm sure if you play Tau, your voice will be appreciated about all those issue and any proposed solution would be studied ! You can just fix the problems yourself... that's the great thing about playtesting, after all.

Well that's good to know. The Tau should be deadly with their advanced firepower and weak in close combat (that's what the Kroot are for !) according to the "fluff".  But IMO G/W is still too close combat oriented.  But a "savvy" gamer/leader can work around that ...  :;):
