It was pixelgeek...enough said I suppose
I am not saying there is anything wrong with your forum now, but I was put off in the past by bad moderating.
Cheers
Chris

Quote (nealhunt @ 20 2004 Jan.,16:46) | I'm glad the sections were divided out.
I do, however, sort of wish there was an official "playtest" area separate from the overwhelming auxiliary subject matter that has grown to be such a large part of the forum. | I'm not sure what you mean? There is an offical playtest area. The "Official Playtest Armies" forum. What sort of seperation did you mean?

Quote (netepic @ 20 2004 Jan.,18:54) | To be honest - I don't have time for two forums, so I will be just hanging around here.
If people could keep us all informed tho, that would be groovy . | Me too- neither time nor inclination.
The occaisional drop by, but not the frequent visitiation I used to give it. Maybe that will increase when I eventually get some EA material in my hand Down here...
Good on you for taking the moderator job CrimsonFury

The playtest forum was originally for just playtest issues - the core rules and army lists. The only alternate rules and lists that appeared were people's sugestions for fixing things in the core rules or the army lists.
I realize there are still specific sections for that, but the amount of other stuff is maddening when it duplicates so many other things. And by duplicate, I mean both internal (near-identical thread topics coming up just days apart), and external (steadily expanding painting and converting threads that appear in various forms on here, for instance).

What do you prefer the forgeworld or GW, basilisk? I'm quite undecided on this one, there just seems to be something not quite right about the new GW one. How doe the FW basilisk compare witht the E40k basilisk for scale?
The same for the Manitcore. I just really don't like the Fw one for some reason it just looks a bit chunky.

The FW Basilisks that I got were incredibly fragile. There was so much excess moulding on them that it was a real pain to clean them up without damaging the thinner parts. When I start my IG army (its inevitable!), I am probably going to get both Basilisks and Manticores from GW, although I quite like the FW manticore too.

Hi!
Is there really a difference between one being metal and the other resin?

I was thinking about the styles-
The new fanatic armageddon pattern with enclosed crew compartment as opposed to the traditional style forgeworld version.
Then for the manticores the FW version has a turret with chunky side mounted rockets as opposed the GW one with rockets on a rack on the top.

Well, I kinda like the old basilisks, the new one looks kinda funny. As for the manticore, well, the old epic40k manticore rockets were too fiddly for my taste. Took me forever to get the freakin things to set on the rails. So I prefer the FW ones there.
my 2cents,

Have all versions from SM1 on ... and all F/W Epic. If I had to do it again ... F/W stuff is too fragile for most "hard corps" gaming, save for the TAU, I would not have bought most of the F/W Epic ... I really don't know why they even started to make F/W Epic ?
