Hi there,

one question that I got from my last minigeddon battle.

An ork warbike formation assaults, two baneblade tanks (one of them has a commissar) the warbikes win by two points. The tanks lose so I have to distribute two additional points of damage to the formation (since they lost by two points).

Now the uncertain parts:
1) Since the losing formation consists of war engines do I have to split the damage or can I concentrate it on one unit?

2) The tank with the commissar is fearless so it does not get damage from losing an assault so I ignore all damage dealt to it that origins from the lost assault?

3) Can I combine 1 and 2 and thus ignore all damage from the lost assault?

Second situation

The broken super heavy tank formation receives fire from a ork blitz brigade. The tank closest to the blitz brigade is the one with the commissar in that case:

1) Do I ignore the damage received from coming under fire because part of the formation is fearless?
2) Do I perform a normal armor save on any hits that reach the unit(at least from the direction where the commissar is the closest unit)?

I think the situations can be similar for non war engine formations :)

This is explained in the fearless rule 2.1.3
Highlighted the part you need

Quote:
2.1.3 Fearless
Some units are noted as being fearless. Such units are either exceptionally brave or so crazed that they will never run away even when broken (though you can choose to have them make a withdrawal move if you want them to).
Units that are Fearless are immune to damage from losing an assault (both the additional hits and being wiped out if already broken) and from the damage inflicted by Blast markers if broken. When broken or otherwise forced to take a withdrawal move, Fearless units may choose not to withdraw, and if the unit elects to withdraw it will be destroyed only if it ends its move within 5cm of the enemy rather than 15cm. Fearless units that remain stationary do not take additional damage. Note that other units in the formation that are not fearless will be affected normally by additional hits for Blast markers or losing an assault or whatever – just don’t allocate any of the hits to the units that are immune, but hand them out as normal to units that are not.

Normal damage (not from losing the assault) gets assigned per 3.2.1 - you have to concentrate damage on one Baneblade until it's destroyed before you can assign normal damage to the other one.

I think Hena and dptdexys have covered everything else, but let us know.

Strictly speaking, shouldn't you assign normal damage hits up to each units damage capacity? If the Baneblade then saves those hits, it's not necessarily destroyed.
