Never seen a clear answer for this one, how do you play it? Is there an official ruling?

In the grand tournament scenario, if you choose corner deployment, how are the table halves assigned? Is it split corner to corner or is it split lengthways the same as long table wedge deployment?

Thanks guys, now a follow up question, what counts as each players "table edge". I think I'd go for the edges of the deployment zone. But then would that mean that if I was the player in the top right corner ( in onyx's pic) then I could place an objective in the bottom right corner (just in their half).

I've been playing for years, but my gaming group has never done corner deployment, partially out of fear of not knowing the right way to do it! :)

That's correct yes :) also remember your planes can only enter the table from your deployment zone as that is your table edge

Also note that the deployment area is measured from the table edge. In principle this actually allows the deployment area to have quarter-circle ends, though from earlier discussions it seems that most people do not use this convention. See here for details

It would seem to needlessly complicate this discussion to mention something that could almost be considered a house rule.

The French did in the EEC this year . . . hence that discussion thread.
Personally I agree with the 90+ % of others who, like you, have raised their eyebrows at this.
And my apologies for raising the Red herring, it was not intended to derail the discussion, merely added for completeness. :)

To really teach that dead horse who is boss.. I whipped up a diagram showing my understanding.

Apparently only the French generally play with the "maybe deployment" areas?

Hahaha - OK, no maybes :)

But the curved "30cm from board edge" is the generally accepted limit for objective placement?

Apart from adding that this is a nice clear picture of this contentious point, I agree on both points;
- The objectives must be placed outside 30cm from the opponent's deployment edge, which results in a curved prohibition zone.

- The curved end to the deployment zone seems a rare beast. This need only be discussed in the 5 min warm up, probably necessary in international games (like the up-coming EEC), and possibly as a double bluff . . . ;) .
