TURN1
Nightwings ground attack landspeeders, trying to punch a hole in the scout screen, suffering 1 BM from the Hunter but kills 2 speeders breaking the formation.
Retain: Stormserpents march towards predators on the flank.
Tripple retain: Wraithguards storms out of the newly arrived gateway and kills all predators in sight, losing a single wraithguard unit in return. Consolidates into the nearby house.
Predators (annihilator) moves up and tries to shoot down the still unused gate. But only manage to do 2 DC on the Stormserpent. (3 hits out of 12 dice)
Retain (SC used) Warhound tries to finish what the predators failed to do but only managed to kill the “used” stormserpent so the other breaks and moves a little bit closer…
Wraithlords emerge from the broken stormserpent engaging the tactical marines. Fail to reach close combat but the dice were god so 3 marines and 1 rhino is killed with no casualties to the wraithlords. Consolidates into ruins. Tacticals flee to safety, fearing an air assault.
Retain: Falcons move and shoot at the Warhound. Strips all shields and does 1 DC.
Thunderbolts CAP
Vampire (SC used) air assault the other Warhound. Thunderbolts intercepts and does 1DC on the Vampire. Wraithguards manages a devastating 5 DC in the combat so no more warhound.
Whirlwinds fire at the falcons killing 2
Rangers hold and moves forward
Scouts double and places a BM on the vampire who then breaks and is destroyed…
Guardians march towards objective in the middle
Thunderhawk lands and devastators jump out. Shoots at the wraithguards next to the blown up vampire, killing them all in crossfire
Rangers march towards objective at the other end of the field
Guardians on the blitz OW
End Aircraft disengage. Failed to write down rally…

TURN 2
Predators sustain on wraithlords in the ruins, incredible good armour saves results in no kills, 1BM
Retain: Devastators engage wraithlords killing 3 and breaking them. (Losing a dread and a marine in return)
Rangers double and place a BM on the Warhound breaking it
Retain: Wraithguards assault predators killing them all, losing a single wraithguard
Whirlwinds shoots at the falcons again, killing another 2 and breaking the formation
Retain: Landspeeders marshall and moves. Trying to prevent the elder from taking the blitz
Rangers go on OW
Scouts sustain on wraithguards in crossfire but armour and ruins saves them. 1 BM
Guardians on blitz goes on OW again, stalling

Nightwings CAP
Thunderhawk air assaults the guardians on the blitz. Intercept by nightwings and OW fire from the guardians broke the ship when It landed so it was destroyed… (Mindslip by opponent, he was desperately trying to take my blitz, but we continued playing the marines was doomed anyway)

End Aircraft disengage, no rally record this time either…

TURN 3
Avatar enters play near the blitz
Avatar engage the devestarors, killing them with a little MW support.
Retain: Wraithlords engage the landspeeders, killing them but breaks afterward
Tripple retain: Rangers double and blocks the warhound from getting back to the blitz or the other objectives. Even giving him a BM with their guns.
Thunderbolts (SC use) attacks rangers killing one.
Retain: Warhoud holds and breaks (Victory for the elder)
Nightwings attack whirlwinds killing one
Retain: Wraithguards engage scouts killing all
Whirlwinds fire at the guardians in the middle killing a couple
Guardians hold and regroup
Tacticals double and shoots the Guardians in a desperate attempt to take objectives but fail to break them…
Falcons (SC used) holds and break
Guardians engage the tacticals trying to get BTS but they flee.
End Warhound rally.

CONCLUSIONS
The wraithguards is deadly in firefights. I was lucky with some of my saving throws and my opponent failed with most of his shooting.
The Scout screen almost prevented me from doing the alpha strike and I guess he could have moved the speeders to a better position when they fled so they still would have made may strike less good. Next time he will probably field his scouts as a screen also but he was trying to protect the other flank from the air assault…
If I would had lost the initiative in the first round things might have been a lot different but I didn’t. After “all” my other games where the Stormseptents have been shot down by spacecraft or Deathstrikes before the got to act it was nice to see them in action.
I’m quite happy with the mixed build (Vampire and Stormserpents) but it is a lot like planetfall. It’s all or nothing in the first couple of activations.
