Thanks for posting as always. Looks like a cracking game that engaged both players deeply (which might explain the slightly unusual sequence of play ;) ).

Lots of EoV is an interesting combination which can provide significant firepower, but may struggle to close on the objectives - it is a fine balancing act that was well illustrated here.
However, I agree that the game demonstrated two points
- Void Spinner singletons are powerfull - increasing the cost to 275 and restricting them to singles is good
- Other EoV proposed costing works, reflecting their relative fragility etc.

I note you were testing Cobra Pairs under the new stats - how did you both feel about their performance?

Certainly did Rug :)

In this game, the Eldar started with two singleton EoV and three pairs:-
2x VOID SPINNER [275]
2x ENGINE OF VAUL TROUPE [450] (Cobra)
1x ENGINE OF VAUL TROUPE [450] (Scorpion)

The Void Spinners were used to silence two artillery batteries in turn #1, contributed to breaking the Tank company in turn #2 and one Void Spinner shot and broke a Shadowsword in turn #3. To me this suggests they were very effective and that justifies the price hike.

The EoV pairs each cost 50 points under the original cost, encouraging their use in pairs. (Interestingly they were all the BTS, but in more usual lists this makes it a little easier for the Eldar player to set up a different BTS eg Guardians with both Wraith upgrades for 475).

In the game the EoV Cobra pairs marched up either flank in turn #1 each supported by a formation of SS aspects which tended to channel the enemy into the center. In turn #2, one EoV Cobra pair was used to attack the Tank company while the other managed to double to catch two formations. In turn #3 One pair killed a Shadowsword, while the other continued to pound the Tank Company but failed to kill it altogether. In contrast, The Scorpion EoV pair lost one to Warhound fire and broke in turn #1 before they could be used, apparently not recovering for the rest of the game.

Compared with the Void Spinners these other EoV formations were much less effective and were evidently still breakable, so IMO the 50 point drop to the upgrade prices seems to be reasonable as this facilitates the use of larger EoV formations.

Does that make more sense Rug?

So Rug, I think we are agreed that there isn't a problem with dropping the cost of EoV upgrades to 200 because it does not unbalance the list.

I would be interested to see the effect of a triple Scorpion EoV formation for 650 as compared with Revenants, which I also think reasonably balanced.
