If I were picking based on Epic alone, I guess it'd have to be east midlands (anywhere around leicester and nottingham would be fine assuming you can drive) or brizzle.

Agree on the Hull front - I wouldn't be basing any judgment of "the north" on Hull. My sister lived there so I have some experience of it, Sheffield was much nicer, Leeds too.

I take it your line of employment can be found anywhere?

There are small pockets or resistance in the home counties, but we aren't very organised!

Park yourself somewhere in the Derby-Leicester-Nottingham triangle and you can drive to near enough anywhere in England/Wales in around 2 hours. That should let you catch anywhere that you'd want to go to meet with any of the UK-folks here and still have a few players and a group or two within a half-hour drive.

Just my tuppence, and not at all to do with my formerly being a resident of said parts.

Much depends on where you get a job, the salary and your finances in general. There are cheaper parts in the SE of the UK that are still affordable, especially if you work locally or even at home.

It also depends on your gaming preferences; are you looking for a few games between friends or to join in the E-UK tournaments, and equally are you limiting this to Epic alone?

That said, Doomkitten is correct that there are a number of people in the midlands who play, and Mansfield is one of the main locations for E-UK tournaments.

Thanks to everyone who commented and gave suggestions! :-)

I looked into and considered various options and have decided I'm going to try living in Bristol. The unemployment rate is low relative to the rest of the country - which will hopefully help with finding work, and it's somewhere new, while having friend thereabouts or not so distant.

I'm not around the boards at the moment. I recently got back from a few weeks road trip, with bicycling and lots of kayaking and I'm now getting ready for the move. I'll be back in time though and have been gradually working on cleaning up epic models for a new CSM army here and there.

Both really; I'd like to play locally and start going to Epic-Uk tournaments again (though I'll need to actually paint up an army first). I only really play epic these days.

You'd always be welcome to visit and stay sometime (once I've found somewhere to live).

I'm hoping to rope my friends into learning the rules where I am. =)
