Had a game with my speed freaks yesterday against Partisan_nick on tis forum! He tried out the NetEA DKoK list. We both agree that its OOP and needs to be nerfed after this game.

Not doing a regular report with the recording of each move, just showing how things went.

Turn 1: DKok wins initiative.

Deathstrikes eliminate 1 Gun fortress.

Fighta bommers break Hydras, Bombards and wipes out thunderbolts.

Warbike out riders go on kamikaze mission doubling into enemy deployment zone ZoC-ing several units. They are wiped out by inf co.

Warhound on left flank kills 1 flak wagon and 1 gun wagon.

END PHASE:

Both hydras and bombards fails to rally.

Turn 2: Speed freaks win initiative.

Heres where everythings goes really bad for the speed freaks. An engagement on the right flank is lost even though the inf co are prepped by another formation first who then supports the engagement. The engaging KoS preforms clipping assaults making sure almost half the stands from the Inf co cant participate. The Gorgons soak all the fire though and LV:s are all destroyed.

The same Inf co then follows up and engages the supporting BB wiping them out for no losses.

the reg hw engages a KoS in the middle and wipes them out for the loss of 1 stand (gorgons soak all the fire).

On the left flank the same engagemnet (prepping and supporting with BB, retaining and engageing with KoS) takes place against the warhound which is destroyed for the loss of 1 shield on a Speedsta.

The the Inf co on right flank engages the BB and wipes them out for no losses.

In the middle a KoS and the Fortress mob does the same style engagemnet against the reg hq. This time the orks win but the fortress mob take heavy losses (1 fortress going kaboom after a crit).

fighta bommers mostly stand down and picks off a few stands here and there.

End Phase:

bombards rallies.

4 formations has been wiped out completly for the Speed freaks, all in engagements with reg hq/ Inf co.

Turn 3: DKoK wins initiative.

Deathstrikes wipes out another gun fortress and breaks the formation.

Inf co on left flank breaks KoS.

Warhound in middle sustains on KoS breaking it.

Fighta Bommers fly around doing some damage here and there.

Inf co on right flank doubles and claims objectives.

End phase:

fortress mob and both KoS fails to rally.

DKoK wins by 3-0 (T&H, DtF and TSNP).

DKoK has lost 1 pair of thunderbolts and 1 warhound.

The speed freaks has lost 2 KoS, 2 Blitz Brigades, warbike outriders and half of it's fortess Mob.

It was a fun game! But the DKoK are way to good! The Inf co/gorgon synergy is so damn good theres no way they can be costed so cheap! Atleast increase the gorgons to 150, maybe even 175.

The Silo is also crazy good, especially when you put a commisar there. Partisan_Nick felt that it should be nerfed somewhat (either to 2DC or 5+ RA) and i feel it should be discarded completly for a regular set of deathstrikes. If it is to remain i would like mto see BOTH a reduction in armour and DC.

Lastly i think removing the option of singleton warhounds coulkd be a good idea. Just to govce the list some weaknesses... Right now it doesn't have any real drawbacks that actually affect the way you play them.

Looking at the EpicUK list that seems way more balanced. If Nick would have taken a list which was close to his original one he would have lost an activation AND been 100 points over the limit:

Yes. the infantry w Gorgons are extremely strong and I think everyone has realised this. They coud also be reduced to 2DC and the mortars could go - they dont really need them.

I Think the Silo should remain for flavours sake, If it is reduced to DC 2 it will be quite easy to break which I Think would make it OK. The downside of the silo is the nerfed Alpha Strike capability with "only" one missile turn one.

But fun game all the same. The speed freak list was scary with the amount of scorchas and planes and mek dragsters. But they still could not engage the Death corps with gorgons sucsessfully even with clipping and good supporting fire, except at one occasion. The rest of the time they were wiped. They should probably have hung back more and just shot but I am doubtful if it had made a difference in the end...

When having UvenLord and Partisan_Nick as my regular opponents i'm not very impressed by my armies compared to theirs (both are ace painters and do really nice mods too!) but i do have about 8 different fully painted armies that i could take some photos off i guess... :-)

It's a harder form of flock i think. Bought from a store that sells stuff for model trains. It comes in a square chunk and then you just rip of pieces.

Then glue them to a piece of shaped cardboard of the thicker type. Paint it green first though.

Then drive lots of small nails thru a similar shaped piece of cardboard. Paint both the cardboard and the nails brown. I drybrush and flock the base a little too.

And voila! You have a forest with a removable lid! Looks great on the battlefield.
