If you have a large metal flyer like this:

The size of an old TH or Eldar Vampire etc. are the old flyer stands you can get on eBay too small for them?

^I found this being mentioned in another thread but I don't want to pay so much for postage from the US to the UK.

^ These look good but I'm not sure if they'll take the weight of a metal flyer.

Any ideas? :-X

If it doesn't need to be clear I'd go with brass or steel rod. There was a guy on eBay who was machining brass flight pegs for the clear GW bases.

I know Spartan Games used to sell large flying bases separately and they were acrylic. They have a phone number listed on their site. Check 'em out!

Oh no it doesn't need to be clear at all.

I have some of this - might use that as a basic base.

I'd just get some 50mm round bases from one of the many ebay sellers, some 1mm steel welding rod and have at it, the base can be weighted down with varous rocks and washers before being properly based to prevent tipping

I use the Hawk wargames DZC Large flight stands, They're chunky enough to hold anything, plus i like the advantage of the widgets so i can pull my aircraft off the stands for travel.

I might give the large stands a go, try using them on a glued but unpainted models to see how they do.

If that fails I might go the thick steel rod route.
