OK, in the new test list I can mix and match the aspects.
What combos do you all suggest and why?

OK, here is what I came up with;
Troupe #1: 4 Fire Dragons and 2 Dark Reapers I am using the Dark Reapers as Fire Dragons until the list is fixed.
Troupe #2: 6 Striking Scorpions
Troupe #3: 6 Warp Spiders
What do you guys think?

I think that in general, formations dedicated to a specific role work best. If you mix Dragons and Reapers, you will be unliekly to use the best of either. Mixing Scorpions and Banshees might work, but I will probably keep formations with one unit. The only big exception to this are the Dire Avengers, I think that these guys will be great if one or two are added to other Aspects, such as Dragons.

We're going to keep our Aspects as they are, and modify E-A as we see fit and merge anything we like from E-A to our "hybrid" rules. We're not going to bend to fit G/W, in this case ...

I am in agreement with the Bossman. I think aspects should be kept clean. I like throwing formations of one type of aspects at the enemy. Though, if you are palying a low point game then, this kind of thing may work. I like hawks and banshees. Reapers a cool but, like spiders, most do not have very many.
Oh, and by the way. I am intrested in your extras as well.

I was thinking of going with full troupes of the same type. However, I kept thinking maybe I was missing something. So now I will go ahead and make up a few that are all 6 the same then catalog what is left over.

I see, I stand corrected. You wanted to merge your Aspects by types that are compatible based on E-A. Well I'm with the others, keep them clean, ie., don't fight them as a mixed detachment. ?Use them to support your Guardians by taking advantage of their "special" abilties. ?Sometimes this may be difficult, but if used correctly, could help out with your mission ...

Great, the vote is clearly for the formation to stay "pure" for the most part. So now I will have to make up a few formations for myself and then organize the rest for trade/sale.
Thanks for the advise and opinions people. It is nice to bounce these things off you'all.

I've thought of a couple combos. ============
Warp spiders/Swooping hawks (probably 2/4). Movement is close enough to stay together.
Put the WS out front in an assault. Their FF is only one worse and their CC is the same. If the WS is in base to base, you lose nothing. If not, you lose little. Either way, you gain twice the chance of saving the first couple hits (3+ v 5+).
You also have the option of doing a double-move and shoot with the WS. You're not going to do any damage, but you can drop a BM. With the hit and run tactic this might be useful.
====================
Fire Dragons/Dire Avengers.
This is going to be about the same as WS/SH. The assault difference is not as good, but the MW range attack of the FD makes damaging someone with a double move and shoot an actual possibility. With the slow speed, I think a double and shoot may be a more likely option.
====================
Depending on the opponent, a Scorpion/Banshee combo could offer advantages. If you are fighting someone with more CC ability (like orks), the HB are going to be more effective in assault because of the first strike. However, you might want a couple Scorpions out front for the better armor save.
================
They aren't superlative reasons, but they might provide a bit of advantage. In pretty much every case, a combo of two detachments would work better. Not just because of numbers, but because you would definitely have enough troops to let each one do its assigned role without being watered down.

Hi Guys,
Many of you would have seen (and participated in) the campaign issues on the EA playtesting board. There were many great proposals put forward toward this, but tghey are mostly for methods of accruing experience and the rewards of battlehardening.
I recall seeing a good set of (GW sponsored if not produced) campaign rules for 2nd Ed. It was kind of a map system where you divided your army into main battle detachments and scouting forces and manourved them aorund. It had some very basic supply line rules as well, and fatigue rules.
In short, it was a very basic wargame, abstract enough not to encumbre with extranoues detail, but enough to get forces into contact and battel it out on the table top (and it was a refreshing change form playing "Fire in the East" as you fellow grognards would knwo )
Anyhow, the point is- has anybody got a copy? I unfortunately dont, but would like to get a set so I can use and modify them (of course!) for EA and get a small campaign going.
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

We had the Empire of the Stars campaign system set up on the EPICentre at one point.
It was a NetEPIC/BFG crossover, and was quite popular locally, never made much of an impression on the net. (Although when it came down, ironically a load of people complained.) I could either upload it to the site, or I could submit it to the EZine... what do people think?
