If Epic was starting over from scratch I would love the bases to be different for different armies - Imperial guard in regimented bases of 10, orcs on 6-8 strong chaoticly placed bases, tyranids running forward ant like in single file, etc etc.

I saw someone here that did a kick ass 'Nid army using hexagon bases and another that used custom cut bases in the shape of a coffin for Necrons. So friking thematic idea for a base system.

I use strips for my old stuff, round of various sizes for my orks, hex for my latd. Just about anything but the old school squares.

Currently I have some on strips (guard and marines) and some on squares (Orks) but I've been trying for months (with no success) to get a reply out of Litko for some custom bases.

I think it might be time to try some TMG and Fenris Games bases. Do Fenris do custom shapes with (or without) holes? And if so, can someone point me to where I can ask them with details? Just a straight email, webform or...?

I've also used a few different methods - strips, circles, squares mostly. One word of warning - does anyone else find circular bases have a nasty habit of escaping and rolling uncontrollably across the room and under some heavy furniture...? :-D
