This nearly happened in one of our games, so can a broken unit give supporting fire? Would a fearless broken unit?

Broken FMs cannot lend support. They can, however, suffer a BM they were in a position to support and their side lost. So a non-fearless broken FM would suffer a hack-down in that situation.
