Decided to try out the experimental Admech Cataphractii list. Did it against Ork Speed Freaks. A really fun and crazy match!

SETUP:

The Speed Freaks where so numerous so they filled up their whole deployment zone.

I set up my forces over my whole side too. The BTS consisting of 3 Baneblades where in the middle. Off board i had 3 formations of Avenger fighters which is forgot to write on the picture.

TURN 1: AM wins initiative but hands it over to SF.

SF: Huge Warband doubles forward around hill and fires on LR-Maniple on left flank, 1 BM.
AM: Avengers ground attack KoS on left flank, 2 LV die.
SF: Big Warband doubles up next to huge warband and fires on LR-Maniple, 1BM.
AM: Avengers ground attack huge warband, 1 Scorcha, 1 Bike and 1 Truck dies.
SF: KoS double up next to both warbands, the whole left flank is now filled with Ork vehicles in one big mess.
AM: Avengers stand down.
SF: Big Warband in center doubles forward and fires on SFT-Cohort, 1BM.
AM: LR-Maniple sustains fire on huge warband killing a few stands.
SF: Blitz Brigade doubles forward to be in range of both Avengers formations when they fly out.
AM: Warhound in center advances into ruins and fires on Big Warband, kills a few orks with it's MW-shots.
SF: Big Warband on right flank doubles forward and fires on LR-Maniple, 1BM.
AM: In a do or die attack the Warhound on left flank engages huge warband and intermingles both the KoS and the Big warband. It manages to kill 2 stands while it miracleously only gets both shields stripped! It then proceds to win the resolution by 1 point breaking all three formations!
(yaaaaay!!) HUge warband moves a bit towards the center, the KoS withdraws forward to the left corner of the AM Deployment zone and the big warband flees back to the left corner of the SF deployment zone.
SF: Second KoS holds and advances forward.
AM: LR-Maniple on right flank sustains fire on Big Warband in front of them. A couple of formations die.
AM: Warhound on right flank then engages the Big Warband and wins the engagement but looses 1 DC. The big warband flees to the right hiding behind the large ruin.
AM SHT-Cohort advances toeards the left flank and fires at the broken HUge Warband, lots of LV:s die.

END Turn:

All broken SF-formations fail to rally (Somewhere the Omnisaiah is smiling down upon his children!). The Huge formation withdraws behind the large hill to avoid annilhiation.

1 Avenger gets shot down by Flakwagon Flak. The other formation just recieves a BM.

Vaiish: I put one each in each LR_amaniple and 1 in the SHT-Cohort. Didn't know what to do with the rest so i didn't use them.

TURN 2: AM wins Initiative.

AM: SHT-Cohort sustains on Big Warband in the center, kills a couple of stands.
SF: Big warband in the center engages the Warhound in front of them. Tey win the combat but breaks due to the BM:s they suffer from casualties. The Warhound withdraws back behind a small mountain. The Big Warband Falls back behind a ruin.
AM: LR-Maniple on left flank sustains fire on the broken KoS next to them, wiping them out completly.
SF: Blitz Brigade doubles back behind Huge Warband to protect them from enemy Airforce.
AM: Avengers ground attack Big Warband on right flank, killing a few orks.
SF: KoS on right flank engages the Warhound there. It wins the combat with a couple of losses. The Broken Warhound withdraws behind the small mountain next to it's friend.
AM: LR-Maniple on right flank advances forward to be within 30cm of broken Big Warband on right flank and then fires on the Kos in front of them. The formation breaks and withdraws backwards.
AM: Avengers stand down.
AM: Avengers ground attack BIg Warband on right flank but only manages to kill 1 due to the BM.
AM: The warhound on the left flank advances towards the center.

END PHASE:

Big Warband on left flank fails to rally.
Huge Warband Rallies.
Big Warband in center fails to rally.
KoS on right flank raliies.
Big Warband on right flank rallies.
Warhound fails mto rally.
Warhound rallies.

Turn 3: AM wins initiative (i think, this is where things gets very foggy)

AM: Avengers ground attack Big Warband on right flank, killing a few.
AM: Avengers then retain and ground attack the same formation again killing a few and breaking it. The Warband stays put.
SF: The Huge Warband Marshalls.
AM: The Warhound on the right flank doubles up to claim T&H objective and fires on KoS.
AM: The warhound on the left flank then retains and advances around the hill and fires on the Blitz Brigade, wiping it from the face of the planet.
SF: The KoS on the right flank engages the Warhound by the T&H objective. They loose the combat and withdraws.
AM: The LR-Maniple doubles forward around the large ruin to fire on the Broken Big Warband on the right flank. only i kill though.
AM: LR-Maniple on left flank goes on OW.
AM: SHT-Cohort goes sustains fire on HUge Warband and kills 2 formations.
AM: Avengers stand down.

END PHASE:

Big Warband on right flank rallies and denies AM TSNP objective (damn!)
KoS fails to rally.
Big Warband in center fails to rally.
Warhound rallies.
Big warband on left flank fails to rally (haha!)

AM has 1 Objective (T&H) and SF have 0. On to turn 4.

TURN 4: Ork wins initiative.

SF: Big Warband on left flank doubles bnehind Warhound at fires at it, stripping both shields.
SF: Huge Warband retains and engages the same Warhound. The Orks win the combat (Payback!) and the Warhound is destroyed in the process.
AM: LR-Maniple sustains fire on Big Warband on left flank and kills 1 or 2.

After this i can't remember exactly what happened. I know the Avengers once again broke the Big Warband on the right flank. The central Warhound advanced back to the AM Blitz to make sure the AM could claim the DtF objective. The 3:rd Warhound positioned itself right between both T&H objectives to claim T&H.

END TURN:

Big Warband fails to rally.
KoS fails to rally.

AM wins 2 (DtF and T&H) - 0

My thoughts:

Reallt fun and crazy game. I won by sheer luck and the 2 Intermingled engagments carried out by the Warhounds was what decided the game. The awfull rally results for the SF also helped. I really enjoyed playing this list!

But the list really need some cheaper units! This was the only way of getting a playable activation count (at least 9 activations) by taking 3 warhounds and 3 Avengers. If i would have taken anything else my activation count would have been down to 7-8 activations.
I think this list should have both Collosus and Crusader robots in it! I think robots fit the theme still and theres gotta be a few more cheaper units to make this list playable.

Can a unit have multile Techpriests? Theres no way to get more then 3 WE or AV units in a list without dropping the activations too low. I ended up using only 3 out of 6 in this game since i wasn't sure you could place more in a unit.

So fun list, needs 1 or 2 more cheaper units. Didn't feel overpowered.

Cool game. Not sure on needing cheaper units though. The list is made of of tough units that won't see a huge number of casualties and I just checked and I was able to hit 8 activations with 75 points to spare without taking any allies:

The toughness of the units should be more than enough to make up for an activation.


Techpriests function just like the IG commisars, you only get one per unit.

Well, i think they are needed. Atleast the Crusaders. 8 activations is very low. Also it would be nice to have 1 unit with the scout ability in the list to be able to stand a chance against teleporting terminators for instance.
