Hi!

Who have you offended Ork dreadnought? Certainly not me.  :)

L4, what do you use for squat rules? SM1, SM2?

"Hybrid" SM1, SM2 + E40K (in CJ 20) ... as I said we take what we like from each system and meld them to our liking !  :;):   As far as our Squat TO&Es (Army Lists) ... mostly SM1. :)

I have found a Squat list on one of the Yahoo Groups that I am using for my squats. I thought that Jervis said he was planning on making a fun "non-tournament" list for people with the models.

Cheers

Chris

Hi!

The squats are a small and hard hitting army. The specialize in very heavy artillery and large superheavy vehicles like leviathans.

They have heavy support troops that outmatch other armies heavy weapons by sheer fire power. They can absorb lots of causualties before breaking becuase they are stubborn and they REALLY hate orks.

They're an army with a unique feel.

Yes Squats are generally very well armed with lots of Heavy Weapons and Heavy AFVs.  However, a bit slow because of it.  That being said they have a fast and powerful Cavalry contingent with Bikers, Trikes and Gyrocopters.  As Primarch said ... a unique and interesting army to play.  I have had many successes with them and we still use the SM1 Flank Marcher Rules.  An excellent "Flying Column" concept to make quick deep strikes into enemy flanks and rear.  Classic "Hammer & Anvil" tactics ... and good fun !      :;):

Oh that reminds me of something.

Erm, has anybody......

Oh I can't bring myself to say it.....

Has anybody actually been daft enough to create , an actual SQUAT armylist for E:A yet?

Yes: I have. ?}:) ?To elaborate a little: I actually didn't design the armylist, I just ported the Net Epic armylist to E:A ?a while ago. The only thing I've done is the porting and some special rules. I just received some comments a few days ago and have updated the list.

Where might I look at the list?

Me?  :o  When? Have I been acting like I was offended? If so, please tell me where. I certainly don't remember being offended by you. :o

And Hergrmir & Primarch, I did port the Net Epic armylist to E:A a while ago (as I said in my previous post) and have actually received some good comments last week!! If somebody wants the E:A list for playtesting send me PM with your email address and I'll mail it to you, if you don't mind word format that is.

I'm shivering in anticipation. Getting a whole PILE of Epic Squats shipped to me. About 12 Gyros all told, enough for 3 small land trains, Praetorians, an Overlord...
I'm going to stop now before I ruin my keyboard because of all this anticipatory drooling.
Vengeance never dies!

Hi!

Kudos! It gets harder and harder to get a premium squat lot nowadays.

Enjoy!

Has anyone here been following the debate about the Skimmer rules over on the Offical board?

Just curious, if you have, what do you think of this new effort?

Hi,

I had a read through the last couple of pages of the thread and must say that I am in agreement with Jervis on the subject of abstract levels for terrain. Adding complex (and rather unnecessary) rules like that will slow down the gameplay, and no doubt cause more problems than they solve. I can see why people have suggested the 'level' rule, but I don't like it's "baggage".

I have no problem with using the '15cm' rule, as it represents a skimmer 'popping-up' (as it's supposed to, rather than flying (as some people fail to differenciate)), and rising above the terrain directly in front of it to spray fire onto enemy units just on the other side. If you want units that can attack anything on the board, use aircraft or artillery, that's their role, not that of skimmers. The 15cm rule is, in my opinion, easy to follow and makes better sense than some suggestions.

As always with the SG forums, a lot of the people want a way to make their army better than the others, rather than finding a way of resolving problems that come up in games. Possibly because a lot of the discussion is about tournament situations rather than non-tourney games. I would've rather seen the issue discussed either when the rules initially came out, or after the Swordwind add-on is released, as it seems that this is more of an argument over Eldar (and their players who want advantages over other armies), rather than the skimmer ability that all armies use in some manner.

Oh well, I have faith in JJ to make a suitable decision over the matter, as he seems to be really against adding complex rules.

Cheers,
Freshmetal
