Hey guys, new member here.
I played Epic back in the day with Space Marine and Eldar armies along with loads of Titans. A couple of years ago I built up an Ork army, but I never managed to build an IG army and now everything is OOP (one of my big wargaming regrets)

I did collect some odds and ends over the years and managed to get around 70 stands of Epic 40k era infantry of various types (3 companies worth including upgrades) and 4 mk1 Leman Russ tanks, along with 9 superheavy tanks - a mix of the original Baneblade and Stormhammer, Shadowsword and Stormblade (which I will just field as Baneblades or Shadowswords).

Recently I acquired an artillery company and a Bombard Battery, and this prompted me to pick up some Exodus Wars packs to use as proxies, which got me an additional 3 companies of infantry and enough IFVs to mechanize one company. I do also have some GHQ microarmor - enough BMP-3s to mechanize another company, but I'm holding off on that due to size differences.

In spite of the sheer impracticability of it all, I can't escape the SM/TL dream of pursuing massive battles with Titans stalking the field on top of a living carpet of infantry. I'm hoping to field every IG model in my collection, with as many Titans as I can throw in to stiffen the army. I know this is going to be a far from optimal mix of formations, but I like the narrative potential of being forced to use what I have. (excuses excuses I know) There's never enough artillery or air support to go around (in this case, no air at all), but there are always plenty of infantry soldiers ready to die for the Emperor!

The ad hoc list :

REAVER CLASS TITAN [650]

For narrative purposes, this force is a composite battlegroup hastily assembled to support a strike force of superheavy tanks and Titans, using 6 companies from different infantry regiments. Half the infantry are Steel Legion models, with a company each of Exodus Wars Myrmidons, Legionaries, and Prefects. The Prefects with their swords and shields have the honor of accompanying the Commander into battle, riding Chimeras.

There will be 3 battalions, each composed of 2 companies of infantry supporting one company of superheavy tanks. The 2 shadowsword-led battalions will hold the line. Once the Shadowswords have eliminated all enemy war engines, the Titans will crack open the enemy line and the Baneblades advance accompanied by the Commander's mechanized group, with support from the artillery company and bombards.

I know I'm completely lacking air and anti-air assets.
My plan is to scratch build some Thunderbolts, Marauders, and Hydras using plasticard, and then scratch build more tanks and artillery. Then maybe I can try different combinations.

In terms of the opponents my Guard will likely face - my own mechanized Eldar, or mechanized Orks.

Welcome on board, alpha3six, that's quite a collection you have their, I hope you have opponents with equally large armies to fight against.

Impressive collection. I'd love to see it in a big family shot one day!
I too have a guard force that is composed of several companies from various regiments used in an engagement. The whole, "you go to war with the army you have..." dealio. It's nice to see someone else doing that as well :)

I'd suggest breaking down your shadow swords into individual detachments instead of fielding them as full companies. All that TK doesn't spill over to other units when you make a hit and the flexibility of being able to target more enemy formations is a good one. I'd personally try to up your rough riders as much as you can as well.
