How'd your lists go? What did you try? What did you like? What did you hate?

I liked that two of the three lists had 2 Landas although overall the third list was my favourite. I was surprised to not see more Skorchas in the lineups though? How did the Supa Stompa groups fair?

Thank you for sharing!

If any of their opponents care to share then that'd be great too!

Joel

Hi Runejack,

I played the third list with only one Landa. I came around the middle of the pact, but with what I took I did expect to come somewhere near the bottom. So I did finish higher then I thought. I would
rate my list a friendly list really.

Other then one really bad loss, I did ok. I think it may have been 3 wins, 1loss and 2 draws which I then lost on vps. I played against a Ultramarine force, Space Wolves, Salamander marines, Necrons, a chaos list and a steel legion list.

As far as my list goes, if I knew about the zone of control rules that were going to be used, I would have removed one of the Stormboyz for some extra Supa zap guns.

I had lots of issues trying to kill all those Land raiders I had to face and the Leman Russ company.

What did I hate?

All the marine drop forces and flyers, buts life and I knew that's why I would finish near the bottom.

Iron Warriors list looks like total cheese and was the only match up I did not want. I mean something that does 9barrage with Disrupt is just plain broken, and as such I hope the list never gets to approved level.

What did I like?

Playing some different players, also playing against Necrons which I did win, but really never want to face again.

What did I try.

Well the first time in a at least 2 years I took some flyers. I don't normally take flyers or titans.

That's some great feedback! What were the zone of control ules that would have changed your list? Did you take a supa stompa; I can't recall if that list had one? I've played against that Iron Warrior piece of artillery and needless to say, it was my primary target for the boyz in my Landa. The hard part was waiting a turn for the candy shell of Chaos to move a bit away from it.

Thanks for the post!

Joel

Joel, you forgot to mention how easily you dealt with the Iron Warriors Ordinatus when you did get the Landa assault on it.
It's funny how some players call something cheese when others find ways to deal with it. Opposing players fear of the Ordinatus is far more influential than it's actual game impact. I suppose we could also ban the Steel Legion Artillery company with it's Manticores... 18BP of Disrupt, now that's gotta be broken! Or we could also look at the Ork Gargant list. Now that is the chief of BP producing cheese. That thing can generate higher BP attacks than the BP table can actually handle!!!
Na, I say we keep them and just find ways to deal with them (every list has ways to deal with them).

Anyway, back to original point of this thread and the question from Runejack.

We used the same ZoC rules at Cancon that we use here in Perth (and as a large portion of the worldwide player base uses).

Actually my name is Peter, and I never played you and here is my list Runejack

Guazgkull Warhode Ork Army

Big Ork Warband = 350pts

Normal Rok Warband +2 Boyz + 2 Grotz =250pts

Stormboyz Warhorde = 150pts

Stormboyz Warhorde = 150pts

Kult of Speed Normal 4 warbikes / 4 Skorches = 200pts

Kult of Speed Normal 4 warbikes / 4 Skorches = 200pts

Blitz Brigade Big 4 Gunwagonz / 2 Flakgagonz / 2 Oddbouy (Supa-Zap Gun =350pts

Blitz Brigade Big 5 Gunwagonz / 2 Flakgagonz / 1 Oddbouy (Supa-Zap Gun =300pts

Mekboy Stompamob =225pts

Mekboy Gunzmob + Oddboyz (Supa-Zap gunz)=175pts

Landa 200pts

Fighta Squadron =150pts

Fighta Squadron =150pts

Blitz Brigade 3 Gunwagonz 1 Flakwagonz +150pts

Thats the list should total 3000pts.

The list was fun to play against some armies, but not so fun against others, but I did not this going into the games.

I knew there would be a lot of new players and a lot of onlookers, so I was going for a nice slightly under par force.

Actually, I was referring to Runejack who's real name is Joel.
I know this because he's in my local playing group (and he signed his name Joel on the post above). He destroyed the Ordinatus in a 3000pt game late last year.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to play any of the Ork armies on the weekend. I always enjoy playing against (and with) Orks. Fast TK guns, outstanding assault units and an aerial assault capability that is fantastic. No where on the board is safe from them and that's great.

I played this list:

Quote:
Ghazgkhull Thraka's Warhorde 3000 pts

Ork Warband 250pts 2xNobz, 8xBoyz, 4xGrotz

Ork Warband 250pts 2xNobz, 8xBoyz, 4xGrotz

'uge Ork Warband 550pts Warlord, 6xNobz, 20xBoyz, 8xGrotz

Kult of Speed 200pts 8xWarbuggy

Kult of Speed 200pts 8xWarbuggy

Big Blitz Brigade 350pts 2xOddboy, 2xFlakwagon, 6xGunwagon

Big Mekboy Stompamob 500pts, 6xCrusha Stompa, 4xKilla Kan

Landa 200pts

Landa 200pts

Fighta Squadron 150pts 3xFighta- Bommer

Fighta Squadron 150pts 3xFighta- Bommer

I finished up fourth with 5 wins and 1 loss (to the tourney winner, who soundly thumped me around the board, who would have thought an OW deathstrike would scrap metal my Landa :P )

I don't have any major issues with my list, though it has some key vulnerabilities, lack of MW/TK, susceptible to strong AA defence/turtling, and lacking my own AA in turn (though I just use mah Fighta- Bommers for intercept actions generally).

Plenty of activations, a massive BTS that makes ppl groan when it sheds blast markers like water (though a bad assault/defence can ruin your day).

I'd use Skorchas, if I had more, but I don't.

During the tourney, I particularly enjoyed the 5 round assault with a KoS vs a Warhound titan, couldn't gain any dmg for resolution and eventually he just crushed one Warbuggy a round, till I lost (was hilarious). Getting trounced in the same game though, that made the bottom lip quiver.

Having my Stompa Mob get into CC for the first time ever was great as well, single round of CC wiped out a Space Wolf formation (think it was Grey Hunters or mebbe Blood Claws), all that MW CC goodness, there was nothing left afterwards, and allowed me to contest two objectives in that game, forcing a VP win to me..

Playing Necrons was a treat (1. they were Daleks, 2. a great fluff army with some cool abilities, OMG PYLONS?! the whole board was covered with a 4+ TK AA bubble, broke one of the pylons, then the Landas were able to come in!). Playing anything other than an IG / SM Army is usually a plus for me as I am the only dirty xenos player in my local group (Orks, Squats and Eldar, looking to expand into Necrons next).

Ohh, and having my Warlord sniped from the middle of my 'Uge Warband was hilarious, but ohh so painful for the next two turns without Supreme Commander.

Sorry about that, it was a good game though and not nearly as forgone a conclusion as the 4 or 5 nil scoreline made it look.
That 5 round combat of skorchas vs a warhound was a once-in-a-lifetime event, starting with the Scorchas outnumbering, outnumbering 2 to 1 etc vs full void shields, then just outnumbering vs a shieldless WH, then finally the same amount vs a WH who had also taken damage until finally, at long last, the scout titan strode out over the smoking ruins of the light vehicles.

Epic.

Wait a moment, so you mean Deathstrike Missiles are not assault weapons? I've clearly been playing it wrong, thanks! ;D
BTW I got the "Overwatching DS" idea from Steve (Onyx), so now you know who to blame.
