Anyway, I generally have appreciation for all of the titans, including the 40k Eldar ones that everyone hates. I was looking at the Epic 40k Phantom last night and was thinking how everyone hates it, but to me all of the detail actually allows you to do a lot of fun things when painting it that even the classic Phantom doesnt allow. I agree the original Phantom is superior, but I still like the Epic 40k one too.

The Imperator is goofy, there is no doubt about that. So was most of what was out for Epic at the time. Nevertheless its still an amazing model to have on the game board due to its size and detail. The Warmonger that was released for ATII was prob a slightly more realistic/traditional looking Imperator, but whatever. I actually have the Warmonger's head. I wonder what that would go for on Ebay.

Going back to the Warhound, yes its all over the place in design, its still a titan, so I have some appreciation for it. And to be honest I am glad we've gotten variants of the same titans over the years. Prob my least favorite is the one that seems to bring in the most money on Ebay, and thats the Warlord Mk II. That one just looks ridiculous to me.

The flip side to this convo is me stating the original Reaver is by far head and shoulders above any titan design period. And I have to admit a Gargant with the right weapon options and head would come in second.

Mod Edit Hena: Removed obvious flamebait.

I'm with Hena, not such a fan of the Imperator...

This Warhound though, all the hate is making me want to rescue one. :)
Believe it or not one of my mates has four of them!

I'm not a huge fan of it, but I honestly prefer it to the original Warhound. The original's head is just too organic-looking for my taste.

But the biggest reason I never bought one of these was that you only got one in a pack. The price didn't seem right, especially for a figure that didn't look great.

I think the Imperator was ok if a touch overdone in it's gothicness. But think it goes ok next to Beatleback Warlords and metal Reavers. Obviously it doesn't fit at all with the Lucius pattern Titans: the GW metal Mk3 Warlord and the FW Reaver and Warhound.

I think the Milkfloat looks all right. Not quite as good as the Mk3 and could have done with a few more weapon choices.

The trick with the Epic 40K Phantom and Revenant Titans is not to paint them as Biel Tan. Otherwise they look very Orky! I always though they would like nice in Iyanden colours or wraithbone for ribbed areas.

To be fair it is JUST the EA Warhound that I really can't stand. Some of the other suggestions above will look fine with right paintjob.

But they're so rare that we just haven't seen EA Warhounds in multiple paint jobs. Maybe there's a scheme that fits it better.

I'm not a huge fan of the imperator, the model is alright and WMN has made his loyal and chaos ones look fantastic, I didn't like the effect it had on the game back when it was released

I'm coming round to the most recent warhound edition, it's not too bad, and I've seen a few that were actually reasonable models, I wish I'd grabbed one when I had the chance really

for me, the best possible looking titan is a warlord titan made using the legs of a mk3 lucius, the torso and any head of the classic beetleback, then a mix of weapons from the mk2/milkfloat, FW and mk3 titans, as created by the insanely talented Carl Woodrow....shown back left here:

I have to agree with Nitpick, - when the imperator and mega gargant fiest came out I was so apalled I stopped playing Epic, took me the best part of 15 years to get back into it. I happily buy mega gargants now - but only so I can turn them into bits to orkify buildings and proper gargants. (There, I said it too!)

The picture doesnt show the very detailled turrets in his armpits. This armageddon warhound is actually one of the finest minis. Im looking at one right now and I firmly believe it was sculpted after a design sketch by Blanche.
I really hate the imperator when it first came out and I still dont like it now, even with nostalgia kicking in. Truly over the top bulky and ugly.
To each his own...

The Imperator was and is still a silly model. There I said it too. That warhound too is odd looking, I never got one and I dont miss it.

The Original Reavers were my favorites back in the day.

IMHO the Imperator is a silly figure - so top heavy the first time it went up an incline or was shot in the upper half of its body, it'd probably fall over. I see it as a walking ambassador's palace to overawe low tech natives. I had one back in the day and actually gave it away I disliked the figure that much.

The last version of the warhound is not a good model but it isn't dreadful either. Never bought any of those.
The very first warhound with the canine head makes a good chaos warhound in my opinion.

At the end of the day, its all a matter of taste!

Dave

Well, would anyone care to describe or design how an Imperator should look like? I agree that the current one is a bit silly, but no more so than a lot of other 40K aesthetics I've seen. I would love to see an improved version.
