Cut my music.
Netepic's post regarding Warmaster combined with my curiosity is inching me to pick up what I can from Ebay and the sale racks. I have heard lots of people say they like Warmaster but I haven't heard why. I also have some questions regarding how the armies are chosen.
If I pick up the rulebook, and lets say two starter sets (I always like to build two opposing armies) and I am leaning towards the Empire and Orcs, how much fun will I have. I am not interested in building 2000 point armies like what is recommended, and I have no problems playing smaller skirmish games. I am not going to invest a lot in this. . .
So if I pick up what is in the Empire box set, what is a another unit or two that will be fun to have? I like the Steam Tank. Even though everyone hates the thing in WFB, a mini version just looks great.
If I go for the Orcs, I love the Warboss on the Wyvern, but as in WFB, these kind of things are frowned on, so I am wondering if the thing is feasible in a small army.
Also, I really love the Skaven, as I think the Doom Wheel and Doom Bells look awesome, and I do like war machines. The problem is, it looks like it will cost a lot just to field something to worthy of what comes in a starter box set. Are the Skaven fun? Are the machines worth it?
Finally, I don't know how you chose armies. What is legal and not legal. Do you have to have X number of X units? Is it similar to 40k and WFB where you have to have X number of core units and so on? If so, what else could I get from the starter sets if the Steam tank and Wyvern are illegal for a small army?
Mucho thanks.
