Noob question - is the objective I've seen referred to as the 'blitz' the first one you place, in your opponents table half, or am I missing something? ::)

nope, you place it on your own table edge, and you do place it before the take and hold objectives

also when measuring range for capturing objectives, you measure to the back edge of the blitz, rather than the centre like you do with T&H objectives

Other similar question - are there any regulations on the size of objective markers?

nope, big or small as you like.... just remember if they get elaborate that they aren't terrain pieces!

...although having said that, you can actually designate a terrain piece as an objective if you like, you just need to specify a specific point to measure from

I can't find that anywhere in the rules. :(

'You capture an objective if you have a unit within 15cms of it in the end phase and your opponent does not.' Has led to me measuring to the outside edge of smaller objective markers - mine are almost all on 40mm washers.

it's actually a convention of sensibility really.... I think most houserule it that you measure to the centre of an objective marker, or a designated point, the blitz thing is the same, it's meant to mark a point on the table edge, it just gives everyone a baseline and removes any avantages/disadvantages anyone may have from differeint sized objective markers, say you had your 40mm blitz objective, my warhound is exactly 118cm away from your table edge, therefore he can just get to within 15cm of your objective, with my 10mm objective marker, your waround is 117cm from my table edge, yet still can't grab blitz
