Maybe make 'Control of Chaos' upgrade to the Warlord worth 100 points?

Hi!
Abaddon would make a nice special card for net epic with his "unify chaos" power.

If you a playing a big scenario game etc, I would just stick the cultists down with the chaos marines and go for it... I don;'t htink it would be as bad as people are imagining. In a similar manner let marines and guard, imperials and eldar/tau fight on the same side in a big battle. Also orks and chaos... maybe even orks and imperials/tau/eldar against tyranids.

Primarch | "Unify" Chaos is a fantastic term, a great upgrade for a Warlord indeed. I'm thinking 250 pots would be a good starting place to work from for cost
It doesnt have to be "Big A" himself though, any of his principal bad guys should have it
Deamons should be specifically excluded from having the skill though.
It could also be applied to a chaos relic or a shrine which allows the warlord to weild this ability

But I think its important to have some negative effect if you are taking portions from 2 armies and (presumably) taking elements not available to the other. Eg Sm assault troops to an IG Amry, or IG army and Superheavies to a SM Force.

By taking whole units, like CSM Legions and Chaos Cultists, as in SM1, this stops "Cherry picking" ... In SM1 there was a Chaos Horde Commander (Greater Daemon, Daemon Prince or later in SM2, a Primarch), there was also "animosity" rules for Chaos Powers and even Eldar and Squats ! As well as Allies rules ... Orks could even ally with Chaos. "Everything old is new again !"

Quote (Legion 4 @ 17 2004 Feb.,13:43) | "Everything old is new again !" ? | Certainly is, because truth is truth, and rules that worked then still work now. They were written then for a reason, and that reason is still valid.

I agree, of course, and that's why we still use a lot of SM1 rules/concepts when we play. Plus as I said we have been using activation since SM1 ...

Hmm I guess 250 points is okay...does that mean that all Chaos forces would get the +1 bonus for being the same faction as the Warlord and the +1 bonus for not being within 30 cm of a 'hated' unit?

Hi!
I agree Tas, instead of a named character a generic "chaos warmaster" would serve equally well.

"The Fanatic Studio is looking for a group of talented painters who are interested in painting models for us to take photos of and use in Fanatic magazine, the Specialist Game rulebooks and on our website. What we?re after is models that have been painted by accomplished painters and real gamers that show-off a wide variety of painting styles and alternate colour schemes."
blah blah blah...
"Closing date for all applications will be the 31 st Oct 04, with people being notified in November."
So, if you're willing to enter the epicomms contest, why not send a copy of the image to Specialist Games?

Jimbo: Would it be breaking the competition rules to submit pics of a mini both to the competition and to Fanatic (which we have no release date for). I can understand if the extra exposure of a pic in Fanatic mag mught upset the "exposure" balance but what are the "official rules stance" on this?
Cheers!
edit: Hmmm... I just re-read the add. Since the pics submitted to Fanatic appears to be for internal use only I don't suppose it should be any problem. Sounds very interesting though. Getting the newest releases for free in advance to their official release doesn't sound like too bad a deal IMO
