Another change I'd like to see for barrage weapons in general is a game mechanic utilized in E:A which speeds up play. Instead of rolling to hit each unit separately, in E:A you count up the number if units and roll that many dice all at once. If you have a mixed formation, say Marines and Rhinos, you roll for all the Marines together and then all the Rhinos together.
Hi!
I've been doing that for years.
Primarch
In that case in the future I'll do the exact same thing! It really does speed up play.
It does indeed sir! Like Primarch, I've been grouping dice for a long time now.
I always start every battle with 30 dice in hand (not literally, they're on the table) - there are three different colours, meaning there are 10 of each colour. Before I roll dice, I declare which dice represent which units/weapons; i.e. "6 red dice are for Land Raider Lascannon and require 5 or more for a hit, 3 purple dice are Point Defence and require 6 to hit".
Alternatively, if I have a unit splitting their fire across several different enemies, I'll use the colours to distinguish the targets; i.e. "Devastators fire their rocket launchers. 3 red dice at the Warlock Titan need 6's to hit because of witch sight, while 2 purple dice and a green dice will target 2 Wraithguard and that Guardian stand respectively - rolls of 5 or more required to hit with those..."
And so on! Once you start rolling dice this way, you never look back!
