No individual model boxes or blisters? That release plan sounds kind of weird. Sounds like it means you play with fixed armies and no room for customisation?

I'll believe it when I see it.
With that said, no boxes or blisters does fit with their new strategy. First, moving to plastics, you have to do it that way due to economies of scale. Second, they do one-off games as limited editions. They release a game with the understanding that it's a one off (an improvement over the early 2000's when they'd make lavish promises of support and then cut a game off before it had even hit the shelves). Third, they want players focused on large collections of 40k models, not playing many games with many collections where they might be tempted to try other manufacturers or game systems.
If they do try an epic release (and again, I'm skeptical), it will be like Space Hulk or the naval game-- a fun one off with nice models that has a few gems that find their way into our collections but otherwise doesn't make much of an impact on the hobby.
I'd be very surprised if they tried to re-enter and stick with a game in 6mm.
