The Hive Fleet cometh!!

It was probably 7-10 hours or more of work (mainly messing around with the image sprites, so I'm very happy to see it working :)

I'll email a zipped file for the army over to Zombo shortly. If you can get me the base files I asked for that I want to use with these armies then I'll get you the other two armies I've done too.

If you try them and spot any errors (I noticed and fixed the typo in Dominatrix since I took the screenshot) mention them and we'll get them fixed.

They look great!

Unfortunately there's been a little delay in getting the new base sizes made; my PC died so I'm still installing software on the new one, and modelling software isn't on there yet. Hopefully I should have a little time this evening.

No worries Zombo, hope you get the computer fixed up!

Did you complete all the Tau and get them working Alf or just do a few units? I had been thinking of working on them myself, doing a basic list and possibly a Vior'la variant list as well which includes the newer units from the new Codex.

Every single Leviathan unit is in there, yes. Would you like to email you a copy? With the 3 armies I've done I have made separate selectable units for virtually every character plus unit combination possible (l left out the occasional combination like Raider with the Sybarite upgrade as it seemed both inappropriate and a poor choice in the game that would unlikely to be taken anyway).

It looks like I'll probably be spending 17 days in hospital from the middle of next month, so I should have a LOT of time to kill with a laptop. I plan to do some painting, teach myself CAD design and to put together army packs for a large number of armies, hopefully including armies for all the core tournament pack armies or at least ones that can be proxied as them (an expanded SM range army pack could be proxied as many variants, Biel-tann as any craftworld, ect) plus perhaps others if time allows (I'd like to have Krieg, AMTL, ect).

I did expanded SM with my Imperial Fists. I just need to romp through it real quick and add a bunch of black to things. Well, that and the Thunderhawk needs a new model because Vassal didn't have an Imperial Fists Thunderhawk. :P

Take Vassal Ultramarines Thunderhawk and use a colour changing tool in an imaging program to swap the blue for the yellow? It's what I did for many of the Leviathan units which only had sprites in Behemoth colours (the Harridan and WE sized units). It works well though sometime the colour changing tool was a bit erratic and I couldn't seem to get it to match the colour properly (why the titans look a bit too pinkish).

If you're doing expanded marines can I request you include units not in the Fists army list but which could allow the list to proxy as other SM variants till dedicated armies are done for each? Including Thunderhawk Transporter, Land Raider Redeemer, Crusader, Helios, Achilles, Scout Bikers, Thunderfire Cannons, Land Speeder Storms, Storm Talons, ect.

My imaging skills are really, really rudimentary. I tried colour changing, and wasn't really up to the job. I'll try and dig up a tutorial at some point.

Didn't include the THT, though it's a simple add and I will do so (the sprite is another matter, mind you). I included the Redeemer, Crusader, and Thunderfire. The Helios and Achilles lack models for me to crib from, though I may colour change some.

I figured people'd probably make Ultramarines, White Scars or others at some point, and some of the other units could fit in there.

@Glyn - I got everything done except for possibly the riptide and sunshark/razorshark. Manta and tiger sharks are in there though... I'll send them along when I'm next near a PC.

Simulated Knave - I've made and am attaching Imperial Fists sprites I just made for the Achilles and Helios plus Thunderhawks (I had to make a zip file as the forum didn't allow me to upload .tga image files for some reason. The Vassal Ultramarines Thunderhawk sprite is badly proportioned, clearly made by someone who doesn't have the model. An actual Thunderhawk has a bit longer a body so I've lengthened it a bit as well as fisting it.

I've also just noticed the Tabletop SM Thunderhawk is on a 60mm base, which is WAY too small. I've just measured and a Thunderhawk is 94mm big and so it should be on a 100mm round base in Tabletop.

This then makes the Landing Craft distinctly underscaled in comparison but the metal LC model is considerably underscaled compared to the Thunderhawk and a truescale LC should be on at least a 150mm or so base inline with the other aircraft. Luckily it's not hard to scale units up in Tabletop, we just need Zombo to make a larger base size for it.

Great job on the Tau Alf! :) Fancy getting a game in sometime next week? Being currently umemployed I can be fairly flexible about times.

WAAAGH!!!

Feral Orks done with the epic base sized file provided by Zombo. Looking at the image grab I realise he did it in the wrong colour so I went back and adjusted the infantry and changed it in the base image file. Files for the epic base attached incase any of you want to use it too.

PM me if you'd like a copy of the Feral Ork army. I've sent a copy to Zombo for him to add it in to the game files he sends people at some point.

It took a long while but the Orks are done (including the Epic-UK units):

Image

Dark Eldar and Tau are nearly down, but waiting on new base files from Zombo. I'll probably do Speed Freeks this weekend, since most of the units are done already in the orks, and then take a break for a bit. I plan on getting many more other armies done later in the month though.

Me and Alf started playing a 2k intro game this morning and have got to the end of the first turn, with plans to play more tomorrow. Despite being down by one on the resolution my Big Warband got lucky on the dice and won the combat with Rough Riders (supported by a Mech Company), though my Warlord was killed in the process. There's a lot in position to assault so next turn is going to get messy and winning the initiative is going to be important.

The game will get a fair bit quicker to play once Zombo sorts out a way to move multiple units at once.

As Glyn said we started playing a game yesterday - really good to get my first proper game under my belt and really loving the system.

I hadn't appreciated quite how quickly you actually end up getting stuck into each other and was really surprised at quite how effective a single unit of rough riders was/could have been - especially with a commissar riding with them! Turn two looks like it's going to get very messy!!

There are quite a few details in the app that could do with some attention but they're all usability issues. The app itself is perfectly stable and works well.

Things that would be nice:

* Some way to select and move multiple units - some kind of a selection box would be perfect
* A way of marking single models in a formation as "different", a colour ring or something? Basically some way to show where commissars are or equivalent.
* World rotation keys would be nice, effectively giving a method for moving and turning units
* Barrage templates
* Terrain - hills, rivers, roads

Overall though, I'm impressed - and most importantly it works!

All good point. Couple of quick things:
It's possible to rotate already - press ctrl and touch a screen edge and it rotates (see the readme for all the commands).
I'll be updating the Imperial Guard list and including selectable Commissar versions of all units (coloured black) at some point, I just figure it's more of a priority to get the other core armies done at the moment before I get round to this. Having all character units more recognisable from a distance is a must though. Zombo mentioned something about having a solution in mind when it came up before, so I'm waiting to see what he does (I'm not sure what sort of timescale there is for this or other upgrades).

I realise you can rotate the screen that way, I just think it'd be cool if you could rotate the screen whilst holding your unit in position with the mouse - definitely not a high priority...
