Hey Nitpick you are right about many of the infantry figures as they have become rather elastic in their interpretation of being 6mm especially if you use figures from different manufacturers and i've had to accept this in order to get certain models in my collection. But if at all possible i like my vehicles/aircraft etc to be as true scale to each other as is reasonable.

I have a rather large GHQ historical collection and these guys claim consistent 1/285 scale with their models but even they have infantry figures that range from 6mm to 8mm in size. ???

Anyway i just like really big warengines. ;D

I'd go with this interpretation. I have models from all eras of epic and progressively more and more from other companies. As far as i can see :

Adeptus Titanicus started somewhere around 1:500 (by scaling the buildings.

SM1/2 tried to go with 1:300 as it was as small as possible in plastic infantry (6mm to top of head) and did mk 1 rhinos/LRs etc to match. This continued through most of SM2. Titans and fliers stayed at 1:500ish.

Even this fudge proved impractical (ever seen an original intact SM1 eldar guardian stand :D ?) and the range creeped up to around 1:250 for E40k inf (6mm to eyes.)

FW (and several other manufacturers it seems) then produced armour in scale with the new bigger infantry.

Basically its the infantry which stuffed it all up! :)

In a game where the ground scale has to be around 5-10 times any of these numbers to make any real realism scale variation just doesn't bother me too much, though i like to keep some consistency of "unit type" within an army. I just wondered if smaller was an option so they would fit with existing collections.

One thing though. Have you tried true scale fliers on flight stands...? I always assumed this is why they did the fliers smaller... Even then, the E40k thunderhawk is a PITA on even the steadiest table. :-\

I've put the Lancastrian bomber on a flying stand. Seems ok. :-)

Put some guns in the nose and add air intakes in the wings, beefing them up slightly (also giving them a bit of the "gull wing" look.

I love the Vulcan bomber, totes my favourite plane. Even now it looks futuristic, and it's been out of service for 30 years!

The Vulcan will be at our airshow next week, though I don't think it goes over our house, it stays towards the other side of town. Shame, as even a moped going past shakes our house, I'd love to feel what the Vulcan would do to it! How ever, we usually get the spitfire and Lancaster go right over our roof, bloody brilliant.

Early Stukhog WIP concept.

Aesthetically, it has common components with the Lancastrian Bomber that'll visually tie the two together.

I've given it an Avenger-type cannon (ala the A-10 Warthog), two laser cannons in the wings, and a dorsal defensive AA turret.
