At a guess, they were probably more threatening about the names than about the actual minis. The actual minis were derivative in many cases, but you need to get a lot closer than that before copyright law will really torpedo things.

Sadly, I only saw these notices when I did a google search to figure out why the minis had disappeared. I was just about to make an order. I dropped him a note, and it appears that that stuff is gone for good.

With all that said, I very much hope that GrimDarkBits sticks with modeling. His shapeways stuff is superb, and though I missed my shot at the epic stuff, hopefully we'll see other stuff from him in 6mm.
