An "undisclosed unit" value would be handy for that. Some rule that states for an extra 50 points or something you do not have to let your opponent know what the formation is until it teleports or drop pods

That's actually how our local group already plays. We try to steer away from any chance of list customizing we can. All we know is what race we're playing against. Keeps us on our toes more that way >:D
