Yeah, Ulrik, those original Revenants to start with are utterly fantastic!

The first White Dwarf I ever read had the rules for the Revenants in Epic (2nd ed probably? issue 84 i think), and I fell in love with the models then. Took me something like 5 years to even get to try epic (with E40k), and when they rerelased the revenants they were Abominations :(

I got the SG Revenants now, which I have to admit are objectively even better models. But I should really get an original pair of ebay...

I'm actually quite liking the plastic commisar at the moment. That's a lot of character in 6mm.

I agree ... and with a different paint job they are an IG Officer ... Image

I am starting to love the look of these. I know they are old Skool but I think if they were well painted with the right amount of battle damage (rather than clean fresh paint as you often see them) they would look like a proper workhorse of the SM's.

:D Those old Thunderhawks, along with the second edition Predators and Vindicators, rank in my least favourite Epic minis of all time.

I dont think they have the mean look of the newer ones, but they have a kinda industrial charm!

Lovely T-brick trukks!

Anyway, how come nobody has mentioned the old Beasts of Nurgle or Cannons of Khorne yet?

Although the basic Eldar Jetbike has stood the test of time pretty well, better than the current 40k-scale version...

The flat-top vindicator I agree with you on, but I think the Thunderhawk had real gothic authenticity.

I remember when E40K was cranking up, and the GW wholesaler called and he was all hot about the new Thunderhawk. "You're gonna love it! You're gonna LOVE it! Man, this thing looks so mean. I'm looking at one right now. I think it looks like one of those Russian helicopters without rotors."

What? Russian helicopters? We had flying gothic cathedrals. I didn't want rotor-less Russian helicopters!

The new look has grown on me, but I still think the old flying gothic catherdral has the authenic charm of the the grim-dark future. It also really fits with the aesthetic of the cathedral spaceships.

I'm intending to use my sizable collection of mk1 thunderhawks in BFG. maybe orkify them, maybe work on a marine fleet once i'm done with these other 3 on deck

I also like the old Thunderhawk model, even though I don't play Marines.

I have to say that I'm impressed with Legion 4's lateral thinking for a conversion though. I could almost pictures Blood Axe Orks scavenging wrecked Thunderhawks, or doing some kind of dodgy deal to get their hands on a broadly intact one.

Indeed ... ;) The T/Hawk Mk.1, we call it the ThunderBrick ... looks like it has the "aerodynamic" qualities of a "Brick" ... Now as an AFV ... it qualities are much better suited ... ;D
