I am very interested in this!
I never played EA or NetEpic. So this will be informative. Just a view tipps. Use extra light sources to brighten up the set. Use some Lego or playmobil railway stuff for creating a dolly if you have some.
Don't move the camera with your hand move it with your arm. there are possibilities for creating a cheap steadicam.
A view cutting tipps. Make your titles way shorter than in your preview video. Cuts are easier to the eye when happening while the szene is in motion. Cut your movie before using blends. Ok that should be sufficient.
Thanks for the tips - I was literally mucking around with the camera the other night for 10 mins when I filmed those limited number of shots and then over the course of an hour pieced together the short trailer you just watched.
I had spotted the problem with the light - this surprised me as the lighting seems pretty good in the room. I'm going to use a desk lamp behind the camera to better light the board.
I don't have any lego but my nephew is bringing over a tonka truck which we hope to be able to adapt into a dolly. Love that tip about moving the camera with the arm, makes a lot of sense! Don't be too surprised to see a lot of static shots in the finished article though, my main aim is to give a good overview of the battle.
I didn't realise I could set the length of the titles but have figured that out now.
Really delighted to hear that this is of interest to you as someone who has never played any version of Epic. The system I'll be using for the report is NetEpic which is less popular than EA but I know the rules inside out, so don't have to think much about game mechanics while filming.
The main information I hope to put across is how the game is progressing, but I won't be explaining rules or showing much (if any) dice rolling. I do plan to film how to play the game in a seperate video after I am done with the report so perhaps that will be more useful to you.
I am more than happy to listen to any other tips or advice anyone else may have before Saturday!
Cheers!
PS I only threw music on to the trailer to put some sound in. I know fine well the will of the community is not to have any music so there won't be any on the battle report proper.
