1. A aircraft that land can board units within 5cm, just before assaulting or shooting, correct ?
2. Can it board units from a broken formation ?

If so :
3. Can the broken formation try to rally at the end of the turn if the aircraft returns to base (off table) ?
4. Can the broken formation (if not allow to rally off table or fail to rally) unload from an aircraft that land ?

5. In the endding phase, there are no precision about the order of disengagement moves. It has its importancy in the case of landed aircraft that may or may not take off (for ground control or ground AA purpose).
So, how do people deal that cases ?

To amplify Hena's comments, under the air rules when the Air transport activates, it flies on, embarks or disembarks troops (not both) and then assaults. Under WE rules, later in the turn other troops may activate (or troops may use withdrawal moves) and move into the transport. Providing the troops have *not* used a consolidation move to enter the air transport, in the end phase the air transport may dis-engage, and onboard troops may attempt to rally - note by definition there are no enemy within 30cm :)

The following turn the air transport may activate and perform another air-assault (assuming it passes the test). Broken troops that are onboard may not disembark as part of an assault, and I am unsure whether they should even be allowed to disembark at all except in the case where the landed transport is assaulted - this was discussed some time ago by Neal Hunt, though I cannot remember his answer to your precise question.

The end phase does follow some sequences that can be found in other threads answered by Neal Hunt. In this case, all aircraft and air-transports disengage simultaneously (though if there is a concern, I suggest that each side disengage a formation in turn). Remember that only ground AA can shoot at disengaging aircraft as aircraft can only use their AA on enemy aircraft that *end* their move in range and arc of fire. Also, that air-transports may only contest objectives in the turn that they land.

From your question I presume you encountered a situation where two opposing air transports are landed in close proximity to each other and to an objective in the third turn of the game. Here I suggest that the person who won the strategy role may choose which side first declares their decision regarding the landed air-transport in the same way as teleporters are declared - though that is not an 'official' position.

That is my understanding Hena; the relevant section is the last paragraph of 4.2.4, which loosely paraphrased states that Ground units may shoot after A/c have made their disengagement move, the shooting being resolved when the A/c reaches the table edge. Note
- This prevents a/c using their AA during the disengagement phase.
- I believe that suppression is calculated on the a/c at the table edge after they have moved.

However Flogus' question relates to air-transports staying landed to contest objectives (which means they remain ground units and are thus allowed to shoot at passing enemy a/c).
Transports that stay on the ground can be to contest and eventually to control objectives, and initially it seems that the order that people declare their intentions might be significant.

In practice this actually makes little difference to the game.
  • If both sides are only contesting the objective in the third turn, that has no effect on the victory conditions
  • If there are other troops nearby, the transports are much less significant as they must stay on the ground one turn to control an objective. Moreover a Transport that is denying control of an objective must stay put, so there is no 'decision' to be made.
  • Even if this situation occurs during the second turn, it is still unlikely that one side will gain a significant advantage by staying landed while the other disengages. A landed transport is very vulnerable to being broken by enemy fire and thus losing control of the objective anyway

From the Master FAQ pdf on this site.
highlighted relevant part.
Quote:
End Phase
1. Aircraft disengage (simultaneous)
2. Resolve criticals and other "end of turn" effects
(alternating, higher SR chooses who goes first)
2. Rally (alternating, Higher SR goes first)
3. Daemons disappear (simultaneous)
4. Check victory conditions by scenario rules (varies by
scenario and may come at a different point in the sequence)

For AA purposes, only Air transports that are remaining grounded into the next turn may use their Flak attacks in the end phase. During the turn it would count as a normal WE and any flyers entering the Flak bubble could be attacked but as stated above disengagement is done simultaneously.

As for staying grounded to contest or claim objectives. You should go with the second part which is "end of turn" effects, where the higher strategy rating chooses who decides to remain grounded or disengages first.

hope this helps.

@NealHunt
The quoted section above has the numbers 1,2,2,3,4. in the Master FAQ pdf. Should it be 1,2,3,4,5.
