Irony is that Tau and Dark Eldar are about to be easier to field than anything else (Guard excluded) :D
AdMech purposely excluded as there's no released army from GW for them period so they've always been a proxy situation to start with.

How so? :P <-- This is me being clueless.

Deacon's work on the OTC for Onslaught make more than passable Tau proxies. His previews for the Stygian Raiders looks to do the same for DE.

Somebody whose in-tray rarely receives mail of any interest, so perhaps the financial director? It sounds counter intuitive, but it's more likely to actually be read that way.

I tend to agree with the others though, in that it's probably a waste of time regardless of whom you choose to write to. A better bet is to get your son interested in the game through the use of other models. If he hasn't been exposed to 40K, then he's less likely to have the preconceptions that others may have grown up with, so is probably more amenable to different model collections.

Yeah. If you're going to send anything, send a picture of the younger generation holding a bunch of purchases from another company signed, "Your Specialist Games Fans" explaining that they've lost your hobby dollar (or insert your currency).

Cathartic :D

I’m still skeptical that it’ll last (legally).

Honestly I think the best way to display your displeasure it to attend the next shareholders' meeting. After buying a share or two of course. Maybe you can ask the chairman for an explanation. It's usually in September.

By the way, you'd only need to acquire about £116 million worth of shares to have a controlling stake. Now that would be a helluva kickstarter ;)

Seriously?

Games Workshop don't have copyright on "people with spikey armour" or "people with long guns" and certainly not "car sized bipedal robots with guns" or suchlike. If they really did have such wide ranging rights, do you really think these robot skeletons would have survived?

Yes. Sceptical. Now we know.

No, nothing like that! But if I were dragged in front of a jury I couldn't call them original, especially when you line up all the figures in one army. That's why I like them. I really, really hope my interpretation of the law is wrong, and it certainly seems to be unpopular so maybe it is, but that doesn't really matter. Even if we have people here who would win in court, they probably can't afford to put up a fight. So the bar is much lower.

Copyright protects implementation of ideas, not ideas. You can make knockoffs that look similar, so long as you don't copy a substantial part of the other work (what a "substantial part" is varies).

Yes. That is the whole point of IKEA, for instance.

I think onslaught is very much safe.

As far as I know (am I wrong?) they haven't tried to go after avatars of war yet and those minis are much closer to GW stuff (especially the dwarfs with pointy hair) and AoW targets the customers of one of their main gaming systems.
