Some questions:

How many Space Marine bikes do you normally yourself put on a stand? I was thinking 2 to save money and stretch the figures. Will that be frowned upon? I am thinking 2 on a square stand.

Devastators. I just saw a video report where someone only had 2 heavy weapons pr. stand in his devastators. What do you do and why?

Tacticals: Does it matter if you add any heavy weapons in the stands at all? Can you save them for Devastators? Or do they have any practical purpose?

And a final question. Did anyone ever try to create a Ghazghkull stand, with Ghazghkull himself? I would love to see a pic or have a link.

firstly mounted inf should be based 2-4 to a stand so you're fine with 2 SM bikes, most people tend to do it that way, I'm the same with all my mounted inf (jetbikes, rough riders, boarboyz) as they fit perfectly on a UK 1p coin

I did 2 heavy weapons per stand for devs and 1 per 1/2 stand for tacticals, as long as you can tell the difference in the heat of a game and a massed engagement, you're fine, it's a game of abstraction after all!

never considered doing ghazghkull myself, hopefully we shall be impressed shortly!

When it comes to Bikes of any sort, two looks perfectly okay on the square stands, so if you're planning to use stands of those dimensions, it will work well. It looks a little more sparse on the rectangular stands, but isn't too bad, providing you put both bike models halfway from the middle to the short edge on either side.

Regarding the Space Marine stands, my Space Marine opponent didn't put any heavy weapons troops on his stands when putting together his formations back in the Space Marine era, and it doesn't cause a problem. If you want to include one missile launcher though, there's no issue with that. As for the Devastators, they don't have to be missile launchers two or three would be representative in my opinion.

There is a converted model of Ghazghkull from second edition Epic, but I can't locate a picture of it at the moment. If I find it, I'll add it later. Basically, all you need to do is to convert and Ork command model in any way in which you see fit, and the job's a good'un .

I do 2 bikes per square stand.

For Devs, I do two per base since there's four weapons in a squad of ten. For tacticals, I do one HW for every other base.

There are three reasons for using two heavy weapon guys on Devastator stands:
1. It fits the rules of two shots per stand.
2. A Devastator squad of 10 typically has four heavy weapons.
3. That's all you get in the plastic infantry box. It doesn't even leave you enough to give a heavy weapon to all your Tactical stands, unless you carefully mix in marines from the metal character sprues (now out of production).
