I've forgotten where the discussion was, but one idea dor modelling the seige on a practical size was using two tables in a 'rolling' format.

The action follows a single primarch + army cutting a bloody swathe through the opposition. You fight your way up one table on to the second. The next turn, the first table is moved around to infront of the 2nd table and you have to fight your way through that again. Reinforcements triggered by capturing objectives. enemy armies renewed on each table...

Fiore, that's awesome.

Really like the idea of using rolling tables, shame there would be too many figures and terrain to do the whole 'move all terrain and figures back 10cm each turn' sort of rolling.

I had always told myself i would not do pre-heresy, hmmm :(

if you have the game board as a set of planks on top of a larger table, you could slide it bakc by one plank each turn...

Probably more trouble then it's worth, unless you have a 3rd player as a dedicated dungeon keeper.
