Thanks to everyone for the nice comments, glad you liked it :)

It's great to get good feedback when you put in some effort on a game - sharing what we've been up to can be half the fun!

Looking back over the pictures, I'm pleased with how it turned out - but it does still look a bit like the "Skirmish of Terra" rather than the "Siege of Terra". Everything needs to be doubled in size ;D . Or maybe trebled. Where's that box of unpainted old school titans I know I've got somewhere? :D

Success! (and any thoughts you have on it would be welcome)

This looks awesome, and was awesome to read. You thus should feel awesome.

For the full Siege of Terra, I've always figured you'd probably need at least three tables and an appropriate number of armies.

For my eventual HH supplement, I'm thinking of doing a bunch of linked scenarios - the battle's just so damn BIG.

yeah something like 2million points a side or so, 666 players in total, and probably would have to be played out in real time ;)

I don't know if one needs to go that far. Especially since you can do the spaceports on separate tables.

Do a two table Lion's Gate spaceport and a three to four table section of the Imperial Palace walls. When the walls are breached, the fighting moves inside into the Inner Palace, which would be two or three tables (and absolutely packed with terrain).

So, y'know. Big.

Now that would be cool. And it sounds just about achievable. What I need is a wargaming barn :)

I did have grander plans at first - a sprawling campaign involving Epic, BFG and 40k skirmish missions behind enemy lines (for some reason, I really want to do a skirmish mission set inside an Imperator's legs). But in the end I got impatient and just decided to get it done on a smaller scale - I figured what it sacrificed in scope it would make up for in actually happening :)

I liked the list a lot. It gives a good flavour of the heresy and the legions and it's fun using big formations of marines. I like the unique units for each legion, though we didn't use them in this game, to keep things simple.

Defenders of Humanity is a nice half way house to ATSKNF, but I noticed at times that it seemed quite easy to break standard sized marine companies (ie 8 units). In this game there were several assaults where the victors also ended up broken because of casualties. Maybe I should take more uprgaded formations next time.

Have you considered including the primarchs in your list?

Looking forward to your Horus Heresy supplement :)

There's a new version up that draws on Forge World's Heresy stuff, if you'd like. It's a bit messier, but I'd like some feedback before I start paring it down.

I'd been going to include the Primarchs in the supplement, but I figured that since the list is already pretty busy they work best as special units separate from the list. :)
