Random question, but does anyone play EA in their local GW shop?

Do they make comments on conversions etc?

Thanks,

Rob

we used to play at warhammer world, most of them have no idea what models are out for epic (after all, there have been 4 editions of the game, and lots of editions of models...) the only time anyone got nosey was someone who knew GW didn't make necron models.... most of the time they show some vauge interest and say something along the lines of 'I used to play ages ago' or 'epic was before my time' before going off to glue their latest oversized plastic gundam ripoff together and impersonate jeremy clarkson....

Ha! The guy at our local store seems really interested and plays BFG, so I imagine if it takes his fancy he might be up for playing it etc.

I would be wary of taking some models to GW stores; for example: I have some of the older Otter casts that I expect some fussy individuals may take offence too, I wouldn't want to turn up to play and then be asked to leave or to have to answer nosey questions about where I got my - no longer available - pretty models,

I've never met a GW staffer who had a clue.... what business is it of theirs where you got your models from??

there are often OOP/unreleased/staff only models on ebay after all..... then you can deny all knowledge ("I didn't know it's not legit, I saw it on ebay and the guy said it was limited release, honest mistake!")

if they don't recognise a dodgy model, *shrug* tell them it's a scratchbuild, which, technically it is.... ;)

the *very worst* that can happen is that you're asked to put the models away, and/or leave, they can't confiscate the models (I'd dare them to even think about it if it were me....) or do anything else.... then you know they're a bunch of dicks and you don't need to bother going there any more!

heh I went into my local GW a month ago to get a couple of paints, the guy was asking what I was painting, when I told him it was epic imperial fists, he got all super interested and was asking me to bring them to the store to show everyone, he was saying it's a real pity GW doesn't support them any more etc etc.... he seemed quite genuine, but I still reckon it was just sales banter, and it probably made a nice change for him to not be talking to a bunch of 13 year olds, or trying to sell loads of overpriced models to wealthy middle class parents.....

Hey, if you're in the store you might buy more stuff kyuss, or even be "infected" by the 28mm disease. And if not, maybe those 13 year olds might be persuaded to spend more of their lunch money on Epic stuff - in additoion to their 28mm stuff of course, and probably never to see the light of day.

You never know. Worth playing along and see how it works out. The way to spin it is as part of a larger campaign scenario. BFG for the initial invasion. Lots of 40k store play for the various special ops. Monster EA game for the big climax (or a few along the way to represent the larger battles).

Spin it as a good way to sell more stuff, get more and new players in, etc.
