Hi all, newbie Epic player, but longtime mini and wargamer.

I've been painting a LatD army here based on what I have and what I'd like to paint, but I don't really know what constitutes a solid epic list.

So, that said, what does make a good list for this army? I'd like to add a lot of tanks, extras, support, etc, but I can already see the points add up quickly.

Here is a sample list based on what models I already have (1700pts):

STIGMATUS COVEN [740]
(Chaos Undivided), 11 Mutants, 6 Chimera, Chaos Marine Aspiring Champion, 3 Chaos Hounds, 3 Traitor Hellhound, 3 Leman Russ

STIGMATUS COVEN [710]
(Chaos Undivided), 3 Traitor Hellhound, 6 Chimera, 11 Mutants, Chaos Marine Aspiring Champion, 3 Leman Russ

ROUGH RIDER PLATOON [150]
6 Rough Riders

SENTINEL SQUADRON [100]
4 Sentinels

Anyone got tips on how to build this responsibly?

Unless you are playing a scenario or very large game I would recommend keeping the cost of your Covens down as much as possible as you are going to struggle for activations otherwise.

Chimeras can be used, but I prefer to use Land Transporters for the cost saving.

I would drop the Hellhounds altogether - great units, but the cost is prohibative in a LatD list. If you have already painted some, you can proxy them and the Chimeras as Land Transports.

Then you can split off the Leman Russ into their own formation.

You can then expand with more covens & support choices and increase the size of one of the covens to over 400pts to make that your BTS instead of the Tanks.

No problem, the list is mainly set up for lots of Covens with a healthy splattering of all the old Chaos Engines which at the time didn't have a list but players had models for. With both the NetEA and EUK expanded Chaos lists out now there is less pressure on the LatD list. I hope one day to see the list broken down into two elements of Traitor Guard reinforcing the Cultisits and Chaos Engines supporting the Cultists.

Yeah, that would be cool.

I will probably double the army as a "counts-as" imperial guard (traitor) army... that way still get to use all of the fun stuff.
