I got 2 really horrible looking warlord titans with this great deal i did a couple of months back. Could theese be used as Reaver Titans in Tournament play or is that kind of proxies no allowed?

When i play with my friends i know that it's up to us, just want to know what happens if i show up at a convention with my titans and want to play in a tournament.

Also, i got about 6 marauder fighter bombers and no thunderbolts. Would it be okay to use the bombers as thundebolts proxies? Again, in a tournament/convention game.

And lastly, do my titan have to have the exact weapons on the model that i*ve bought for him in my armylist?

In general I'd say you can get away with most things as people are there to play games and meet fellow enthusiasts of their hobby. I’d check with the tournament organiser first but just as long as you are up front about it everything should be fine.

The only problem that can arise is when you try to have a Warlord-Reaver and a Warlord-Warlord. If two things look the same but aren’t then problems can arise and you might be asked to say change your list so that this doesn’t happen.

On the weapon fit out, I'd again say that there would be no problem, just keep on reminding your opponent what it does have and have a different weapon for each type that you are using.

Agree w/ Tiny-Tim. To keep things easier to remember perhaps remove one of the carapace weapons from the warlord to make it more reaver-ish?

It's not a case of disallowing a unit cause it doesn't look enough like the thing it's representing; I don't know anyone who has a problem with that as long as it's gone over beforehand (5 min warmup period!). the problem comes if someone has say 2 beetleback warlords, one representing a warlord and one representing a reaver (to use Tim's example above). It might be perfectly obvious to you which is which (I totally stuck an Apocalypse rocket launcher on that warlord, obviously that's the Reaver!) but, half way through turn two, in a tournament game and so time constrained, it's not really fair to ask your opponent remember the differentiation.

Well, I suppose you're not technically wrong, but I don't think it's unfair to point out during the 5 min wwarmup period that you don't have a Reaver and you're instead using this Warlord figure to represent it (assuning it's the only titan you're fielding, which is a farily safe assumption). I mean, I wouldn't have any problem or anything.

The problem would come more with a situation like using chimeras to represent both actual Chimeras and Leman Russ. Even if you've painted some of them different, it's probably still unfair of you to expect your opponant to remember the probably subtle difference.

I wouldn't have a problem, either. But I have even less of a problem with old Warlords representing Reavers than with new.

Plus, I didn't want him to start trying to break weapons off his new Warlords unless they were the old ones. :P

How do people feel about characters in units? I went Chaplain mad when I put my marines together ("Why would I ever want to take anything other than a chaplain in a terminator detachment?!") but now find myself wanting to swap them out for supreme commanders / captains etc... in my case I have two terminator detachments, both with chaplains, in my current list, one is now a supreme commander and the other detachment has no character.

I plan on covering this by EITHER putting a special dice next to the SC detachment (to represent the re-roll, as some others tend to do) and explaining this fact to my opponent OR I'll re-paint him gold before my next game and explain that the black armoured terminator in the other detachment is nothing special.

The bigger concern is that I have two assault detachments (again, both modeled with chaplains) but only one detachment has a chaplain. What's the most reasonable way of explaining that one away? Short of re-painting and/or building an extra stand that is.

I want to do a AMTL army with 2 reavers and 3 warhounds so both warlords would be used as Reavers actually. For warhounds I'll use warhound models.

The oher thing was that i wanted to use my marauder models as thunderbolts since i have 5 of them already and frankly can't afford more models right now...

So in both cases there will be no situation where i use one type of model for 2 different units. Warlord models will be reaver units and maraduers will be thunderbolts.

Assuming they're metal - pop them off the base, enri. And magnetize them or the future.
