As my friends and I are a few months into playing epic now we are starting to think about enlarging our collection past a marine and a guard army. The hope was to build p some other cheap armies, preferably ones that could use multiple lists, for when we wanted a bit of variation. I've been dabbling away on eBay and now have a small collection of Eldar, Orks, Chaos and some (too many) Knights.

I'm not quite sure where is the right section to post the, as its on three different armies, posting in any of the NetEA development/races folders seemed wrong. Please move me if I'm squatting in the wrong place.

First up are the eldar. The picture below shows the miniatures we have on the left (there is a nightspinner missing, but we have it) and on the right are some miniatures hopefully in the post on their way. I'm planning on making a webgate.



My little Epic experience tells me this is a rubbish army. Many formations are too small to use (nightspinners, aircraft etc), or too big (but not big enough to split in two). Would anyone mind advising on what they think would be the smallest/cheapest or easiest to obtain units that would me this a viable secondary army?

I'll post pictures of the chaos and orks when I get them all based.

Actually, for your Eldar you have the makings of an Ulthwe force right there! Now, If you are just looking to get something on the table, this will require you to pick up the fewest items.

1X Guardian Warhost w/ 3 Support Weapon Platforms - 200
2x Guardian Warhost - 300 (150 ea)
2x Black Guardian warhosts - 400 (200 ea)
2x Sworld of Vaul Troupes (5 FAlcons ea) - 500 (250 ea)
2x Ranger Troupes - 200 (100 ea)
Aspect Warrior Troupe (Hawks w/ Exarch) - 200
Aspect Warrior Troupe (Banshees w/ Exarch) - 200
Aspect Warrior Troupe (Scorpions w/ Exarch) - 200
Aspect Warrior Troupe (Reapers) - 175
Phoenix Bombers - 400
Wriathgate - 50
Night Spinners - 175

So you need to pick up just a few things to get 3k to the table, but if you post over in the trade forum someone should be able to help you round it out!

You could also use a Windrider Troupe (200 pts) in place of something else!

I think you need a bunch of wave serpents for some of that infantry.

I have 4 more phoenix, 3 more bike stands and 4 more support weapons on the way. I'm keeping an eye out for cheap waveserpents, but they seem to be as rare as hens teeth, so we may need to bight the bullet and buy some from forge world.

Since my last batch of 80 bases turned up I have started basing up the Orks. So far we have (or are in the process of converting):

Is this an ok start? Its a viable list rules wise (in fact its a viable single formation), but what would you suggest the smallest number of purchased items would be to make this a viable list?
