No ill effects from lunch but given that the only thing I could get my hands on after finishing our first game late was a handful of cheese roll things and a chunk of cake then I'm not surprised

That was my only grumble really, lunch was a bit crap but I understand there's going to be issues with the logistics of feeding that many hungry wargamers in one small bar. My gripe was that those of us who'd finished our games late found nothing but a handful of little cheese rolls (that caught me out, thought they were sausage rolls, what a let down!) and tuna sandwiches (every buffet inevitably has tuna sarnies left over.. there's a reason, not many people like them) so lunch consisted of a piece of cake and two cheese roll things which I had to lean over complete random strangers to get to! I'd say 1/10 for the lunch, 10/10 for everything else

Three cracking games, I feel I'm definitely beginning to learn more even though there were moments in all three games were I realised I'd made a mistake as soon as I'd made a move / teleport / etc. and my initiative rolls were shocking across all three games, usually right when they mattered! (Chris will attest to this as my terminators got gobbled up before they could start on their ludicrous kamikaze teleport mission into the heart of the ork horde, and Jez will also attest to this when his terminators managed to trundle out of assault range of my, again, kamikaze teleport mission terminators... sigh!)
First game was Ryan's orks, cracking game and it looked to be very one sided in Ryan's favour from the word go, luckily I managed to drag it out and contested a bunch of objectives to deny Ryan an outright win in turn 3 when we ran out of time.
Second game was Chris Steel's orks, notice a running theme here? greenskins and lots of them, not helping me fight the urge to put together an ork horde! This one ended in a 2 - 0 victory to Chris and was another cracking game, I felt I stood more of a chance in this game but Chris put the hammer down and made me suffer for a few mistakes I made!
Third game versus Jez's marines, finally a marine army! I've never played
against a codex marines army so it was a nice change to actually know what every unit I was facing was capable of, some mistakes and I might have played my hand a little early on but there was some definite improvements in my game, with only 5 minutes to play turn 4 and with Steve chasing results, we stood by the score at the end of turn 3, a 0 - 0 draw although if we'd played turn 4, I'd have been obliterated! This is the first time I've actually gotten to the end of turn 3 and had the scores at 0 - 0 though so despite the inevitable drubbing I'd have had if we'd continued, I'm chuffed with getting that far, just need to refine my game a bit and maybe that elusive win will come to me one day

Chuffed at my raffle win too, got one of the new GW hobby starter sets (the irony being that I'm so far from needing a starter set) but that was an unexpected treat and gives me a chance to try out the new GW paints without having to fork out any cash, got a set of replacement clippers too and I'm sure I'll find a use for the starter brush from the set. All good

Sadly I'm not going to be able to make a tournament until the end of the year at the earliest now as me and the wife are expecting our second child in the coming months and family stuff will be occupying the top slot of priorities once again, I'll definitely be back as soon as I can rack up enough brownie points and I have plenty of time to get a new army painted up, lastly I'm sure Dave B will keep my skills honed by completely drubbing me whenever the opportunity arises!

edit: sweet jesus, it's an
essay... sorry about that
