I decided that my Epic marines needed some new bases and looking at some peoples armies, I liked the look of round bases. But rather than just sticking the models on a washer or 2p coin and then covering them with greenstuff/putty/etc to hide bases on the models feet, wanted them set in, like normal epic bases.
So after a bit of googling for thin round bases I settled on some from Litko. I got some 0.8mm thick 25mm diameter plywood discs for the top half and 0.025 inch thick 25mm diameter flexsteel for the bottom.
This is how things turned out:

This is what I got through the post, the wood discs on the left, the steel on the right. The steel discs also come with an adhesive side so they stick to the wooden base.

To make my holes in the wooden base I decided to use a standard hole punch. This one makes 6mm holes, which is perfect for Epic men.

This is how the base looks after being punched. Even at only 0.8mm, I had to squeeze to punch the hole. I wasn't to worried about a bit of splintering of splitting as they would be painted over, but the punch made almost clean holes and obviously by doing them be eye he holes aren't perfectly aligned which is fine with me as it makes the formation of men look at little more natural.

With the steel base stuck underneath.

These show how the base size compares to the old square ones and I think they look pretty good. Similar in height and size.

And this is how they look with a Devastator Squad based. Everything looks good so far. Currently they are just stuck on by the adhesive on the steel base, but I think I will glue them in properly to make them more secure.

As well as the marines, I tried some Dreadnoughts. Obviously I couldn't punch these so I just drew around the dread base and cut out the right size from the wood base.

Everything together with a Rhino.
So all in all, I think the Litko bases work well. Like I said, I was a little worried about being able to punch them, but they seem to be able to handle it.
Just need to get on with the rest of my marines now.
