Hey everyone,

I played some Epic in 2010 and whilst i got hammered quite a bit (think i managed 1 draw, maybe 2 ;D ) i enjoyed it. With emigrating in 2011, i sold my Eldar but now i am back in the UK, curiosity has got the better of me and interesting is beginning to peak again. Previously, i always chopped and changed my lists as i was always getting a beating, so rather than sticking with one list and learning it i didnt!

This is the list i have come up with. Its based around air assault, with 2 vamps and just thought id get some advice on composition! I think i got the points right!

Guardian Warhost – 150 pts
Aspect Warhost (2 Fire Dragon Exarchs, 4 Fire Dragons, 2 Dire Avengers) – 350 pts
Aspect Warhost (2 Warp Spider Exarchs, 6 Warp Spiders) – 350 pts
Aspect Warhost (2 Swooping Hawk Exarchs, 6 Swooping Hawks) – 350 pts
Falcons Troupe (3 Falcons, 2 Firestorms) – 250pts
Falcons Troupe (3 Falcons, 2 Firestorms) – 250 pts
Void Spinner – 250 pts
Void Spinner – 250 pts
Vampire – 200 pts
Vampire – 200 pts
Wind Rider Troupe – 200 pts
Ranger Troupe – 150 pts
Wraithgate – 50 pts

I am considering a second list at the moment, based around a pair of Revenants but cant decide at the moment.

I'm no eldar player but first things first, your most expensive detachment is the same points cost as two other detachments, meaning your opponent can effectively pick whichever one he wants to satisfy the BTS objective - make one of them more expensive and you're golden :)

+1, the list looks good except for the BTS issue and the fact you have no Autarch. Adding the Autarch will solve both problems.

Edited to add: you won't have a supreme commander on the ground which is not ideal, but still worth it IMO.

I most certainly am Curis!

Hoping to get an army cobbled together pretty soon and get back to the NWGC. Not decided completely on Eldar or the Rug inspired BA list, which may be slightly expensive to put together:

Landing Craft
THawk
THawk
THawk
THawk
Death Coy + Rhinos + Chap
Terminators + Chap
Baal Preds + Librarian
Assault
Assault
Bikes + Librarian + 1-5 Attack Bikes

Drop the ranger troupe down to 4 units which will make it 100pts and then replace one of the exarchs in an aspect warhost with an Autarch.

Same comments as others.

What are your plans for the Wraithgate? It seems a bit superfluous, and dropping it would allow the Autarch without losing any other units.

For the warp spiders I imagine. Guardians and fire dragons in Vampires, hawks to teleport.

I'm not used to playing the Vampire / Gates game, but having only one Farseer seems a little vulnerable to me.
I'd want to have at least two Farseers to make sure the Avatar can come to the rescue.

And yes, you really want a Supreme Commander (aka Autarch) somewhere.
I've lost too many games to failing a critical activation roll ..

Echoing the others, you need an Autarch, ideally on board. It's a terrible feeling to not execute a perfectly prepped assault because your vampire fails to come on board.

You're also pretty light on AA - those firestorms will be broken or suppressed pretty quickly and you have no Nightwings for interdiction to take out your opponents aircraft.

I'd stick the warpspiders in a vampire. Then I'd swap the Hawks for some Shining Spears to come on out of the wraithgate. If you're playing EpicUK by all means keep the Fire Dragon Exarchs, if not, swap them for Dark Reaper ones.

I'd also seriously consider dropping one vampire and using the points to mechanise your Dragons - it'll make a very tough BTS and give you more tactical flexibility. An all out Eldar air assault list is going to win big or crash and burn, with the edge going to the latter, as Vampires are easy to shoot down, come on board on a 2+ (or more with BMs) and once they're down, the troops are relatively fragile and slow moving.

You may also think about dropping one of the void spinners. They're great for prepping for assaults, but you may not need more than 1 assault prepping with it per turn. For alternatives, I'd add a Falcon to each of your Falcon fms to make them more durable, buy another Ranger fm for stalling/ screening/ general annoyance and perhaps add some Support Weapons to your guardians to increase their effectiveness as a blitz guard.

Still, there's no right way to play Eldar, that's for sure :)

I'd agree with the getting the autarch comments, apart from that its a strong list. I've used the 2 vampire, 2 falcon, 2 spinner list a lot and its very effective.

Cheers guys! Sounds like a plan, 2 Vamp Biel

I have also been playing around with the possibility of revenants, which after first draft ended up like this

with the second list, I'd think about how many fms you'll have on board and for how many turns. Eldar work very well when you can outactivate and outmaneuver your opponent, so if you have few activations as result of bringing titans and then some of those are off board for one or 2 turns, you'll run the risk of being picked apart piecemeal. Eldar tend to work best when you have a single strategy and everything works together towards that, so splitting approaches can fall flat (I've had this problem in the past).
