Hi All

As a newbie I am considering attending Full Scale Assault 2012 @ maelstrom in mansfield February 4th but do not know what to expect.

If I wished to take 2 warhounds in my list, but only own one model, would I be able to use an old plastic warlord (with carapace weapons removed) as my second warhound?

Is this type of substitution allowed or is it frowned upon?

Cheers

I think that would be stretching the 'count as' rule a bit too far...

That said I have a pair of warhounds that your welcome to borrow for the Saturday :)

Cheers Mephiston

I appreciate the offer.

I will let you know if I need them. Still need to finalise my army list.

More on 'counts as'

I have a load of old format whirlwinds which I now tend to use as razorbacks, using the new format whirlwinds as whirlwinds. I assume this is acceptable?

As an aside, what makes a substitution of one model as another legal or illegal?

For example, I also don't have hunters, but have a load of old predators... would it be legal to use these models as hunters? - especially if I am not including predators in my army?

Alternatively, I do have a surpluss of rhinos. If I modified these, (3D)printing some basic turrent and placing them on the rhinos, would that be accepted as a hunter?

(FWIW - the images here are as a result of web searches and are not my models)

Worst comes to the worst you can always borrow any models you need off me. Not the best painted, but they are there if you need them.

lol

Cheers Tim.

Personally I would prefer to use my own models as they match the colour scheme of my army.... but I will keep your kind offer in mind.

(spent the best part of Saturday painting 8 whirlwinds and a predator... fiddly stuff for sure :) )

I don't think anybody would have problem with these - just clearly explain what they are at the start

or better still, have a printed quick refernce chart - picture and note saying what it is.
will save your opponent having to ask during the game.

I agree with all the above. A warlord for a warhound is taking it too far, but the other vehicle substitutions should be okay. They’re not perfect though, because a lot of us are familiar with old format whirlwinds and predators. We know what they are, and at some point I would forget that your old predator isn’t actually a predator. In the long run it would be kinda nice if you replaced or modified the proxies.

Personally I think you should use the old whirlwinds as hunters, and old predators as razorbacks. That seems like a better fit to me.
