Quote (CrimsonFury @ 03 2003 Nov.,10:30) | He also confirmed the release order for Epic armies is: Eldar, Tyranids, Chaos, Necrons, Tau.
He said he hoped to get Necron + Tau trial lists up within the next few months. | Woo-Hoo!
Just have to wait a little while....

Hi!
Good! I really want a necron army!
I hope the game has enough steam to get to that point though....

I'm hoping for the best ! ? Plus, who knows what F/W will come up with for Epic ... but we can make some good "guesses"! However Tony C. and his crew are "wild cards" !

I'd like to use some of the Eldar Exodite minatures that you can get from US Mail Order (to see them go the US Mail Order Site: http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us and search for 'exodite').[/URL] I'd like to use them within the normal Eldar army list and say they 'count as' other units. Planning on having a Saim-hann army completely mounted in vehicles or on jetbikes except a smallish contingent of Exodites (according to the background Saim-hann have the strongest links with the Exodites out of the Craftworlds)..
Need some ideas as to what they can count as, I'm thinking maybe:
Exodite Dragon Rider's = Storm Guardians? Exodite Horned One = War Walker? Exodite King Dragon = Wraithlord? Exodite Winged Dragons = Shining Spears?
Any comments/suggestions?...

Had another idea, could I also use some Warmaster figures to add a bit more variety to the Exodites?
I was thinking I could use some of the lizardman range (e.g. terradon, stegadon, t-rex) and some of the dark elf range (e.g. cold one knights, chariots - possibly mounting laser weaponry on the back?).
How big is the scale difference (dont know much about warmaster)? Can I get away with mixing in some Warmaster minatures in an Epic army? Even if the elves themselves would be too big could perhaps buy some more epic exodites and convert the eldar across...

Well, as I said, I have them and those should work, but the Winged Dragon should be a "flyer", IMO. These are big figures but fit in fine with Epic. However most of the W/M stuff would be too big to use with Epic, except maybe the lizards. I use some W/M for terrain ... it works.

Warmaster is 10mm, compared to epic's nominal 6mm and actual 6-8mm. They really don't look right next to each other.
I would suggest looking at MoW stuff if you can find it. The fliers are right in line with epic scale stuff. I used a MoW gyrocopter for a deth kopta conversion and the Lord of Change is in scale.
The lizardman stegadons are mounted on 4 warmaster bases in the pics (40x80mm), so that would make them about the right size for an epic titan. Also, the figures are all separate from the howdahs, so you can easily leave the lizardmen off and just add the epic scale figures and guns.
Personally, I don't think anything organic should be a "flyer" in the EA rules. The idea that a guy on a winged lizard could keep up with and dogfight a jet is a bit silly to me. Far better to make them skimmers, as a VTOL craft would be.

what happened to my Warmaster Terradons
one thing to check is the bases are 40mm x 20mm which will give you an idea on size of the miniatures.
Originally I was hoping to use the Terradons as Ork Snakebite Fighter Bommers... my new project is using a WHFB scale Terradon as a Really Heavy Ork Snakebite Bommer (and the crew on the WHFB model are separate).

That is a good idea, Neal, the Terradons would make better VTOLs than actual Aircraft. We only use aircraft for CAS and don't use Air-to-Air rules. We feel that should be a whole other game. And using them as VTOL they can do "Pop-ups" which is the hallmark of the Eldar. Most of their vehicles can do that.

Hi!
I came to the same conclusion as Jimbo with some of the Warmaster figs. As well exodites, we wanted them for some Dracon proxies (slann lizardmen allies), but the you needed to saw of the crew. Too hard for me at least.

Doh! Had assumed the stegadons were mounted on a single Warmaster base not four of them... Think I'll have to leave them then, don't really want a proxy Exodite Titan.
I think I could probably get away with using terradons as varient winged dragons though, carefully scraping and filing away the riding skinks and replacing them with exodite riders similarly removed from their dragons (will take a while but I don't mind). The terradons look more interesting scults than the official winged dragon, if anyone heres got both whats the size difference between the two? Could I use 1-3 terradons on a Warmaster sized base to count as a unit of Shining Spears and then use the proper winged dragon models to make the warhost's exarch?
How big is the Warmaster T-rex? Was thinking of using it as a Wraithlord along with some King Dragons. Having looked at the Eldar army list properly I then also realised that if I wanted to include Wraithlords then I'd need Wraithguard too so after thinking about it for a while I decided to use Warmaster Salamanders. I figure they can be dragon type creatures that spit a fiery acid at their enemies, their bodies being very tough and heat resistant hence decent armour save.
The other idea I'm considering is to buy a warmaster dark elf chariot, have it pulled by two exodite dragon riders (without the riders) and mount a great big cannon on the back in the chariot. Could count it as a Support Weapon...

I have small detachments of all the Exodites ... they are big but in scale ... the T-Rex and Horned One are about the size of a Land Raider, and "dwarf" a Rhino. The Terradon is about the size of an E40K T-bolt. And it will be no easy task cutting the Exodites off most of their mounts. And most parts are $2-3 USDs. IMO ... use them as is ... this could be a time consuming and expensive project ... But you got to do what you got to do ...

I felt I left you hanging, then I remembered that Irregular Minatures makes 6mm Lizardmen, Dinos, everything ! I just checked out the site again. If you are looking for 6mm conversion fodder ... I'd look there.

Thanks for the info and suggestions though tend to prefer to stick to just GW stuff and want to attend official GW tournaments with this army...
